    More "real RPG" elements

Well, you have ten different skills, alright? Sailing, fencing, commerce - you name it. These go in range from level 1 - 10. Those are your character, they makes you and your officers' characters. If you ask me, that is not very RPG-like. It is not enough to build a character and hence the...

    More "real RPG" elements

I often wondered, why the freepoints was not the skill system - it represents all the essential elements of skill, yet more varied towards fighting, stamina and personality. The skillsystem is not enough and it does'nt take too long before you are 10 all the way. After what character you choose...

    a Seadogs/AOP officer system

Alright, I rest my case - I was wrong <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Excuses of differencies in navies will not due here. I did not know you were actually considering a purser, and grappling in every case...

    The General Game World Concept

I got CoAS in my mailbox a couple of days ago. Its a great game. Compared to AoP, it has more of everything - but thats all. Although not playing much yet (some great fencing it has!) I looked into the libraries: -The game is about 7 GB when installed. -It is build directly on top of AoP and is...

    a Seadogs/AOP officer system

Pieter: I never served an official rank called boatswain, only quartermasters - is it still a used term in modern ships? Anancaqua: The boatswain was responsible for storing the supplies. Look it up, if you please. Being in charge of actual sailing, the first lieutenant was allowed to have a...

    Brainstorming for CoAS modders

About textures: They consume a lot of memory, hence their size is balanced into a budget of textures loaded into a scene, calculated by the developer. If you take a look around you, you can probably see a lot of details in your surroundings, adding to this sum on behalf of the ground texture...

    More "real RPG" elements

YES! I like what SuperDunius propose. If I had to choose, I would favour development of your character before initial customization. In the long run, it is not _that_fun to play and be like <insert your favourite hero here> Playing a character that reflects yourself would not make it someone...

    Ingermanland - Retextured Lineship

Oh, it's not about what I like or not, its about you being satisfied as well, and what difference these small things do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Someone mentioned, it could have something to do with the version of...

    Russian vs. western gamers

I did'nt exactly call ouselves "thiefes" :D But yes, that one is very unfortunate. What are you working on right now by the way, Thomas? :)

    Russian vs. western gamers

I can't speak for gaming differencies, but modding-wise I can: Russians treat developers who released a modpack as authorities - developers doing it for a living = gods. I googled their communities - there are a lot, and lots more than we think - some moddingteams actually waited several months...

did someone build already times a city?

I dont know, but I do know that the skybox should be textured. Sky_up, sky_back, sky_front,left and right should be put on the background, with sky in the buttom I presume. The game will then render the sky seemesly and do adjustements for day and night by itself.

did someone build already times a city?

Yohoho: I am making some texture sets for medieval buildings at the moment. I think some of them would match a medieval city and some of them would match a late 1700th century city as well. Not one particular city, though. Would you be interested in some? Would someone know, if we can use...

    Ingermanland - Retextured Lineship

Yes thats exactly what was needed! As the windowpart bulbs from the stern and make a break to the shape, would that not be more historical correct, you think? One more suggestion: you could also texture the lower part under the windows to match the planks going across the side the same way, but...

Politics (but let's keep it civilized)

Is it just me, or is there something about small men in general, they always seem to compensate for something? I mean, if this infant badguy from "Team America:World Police" continues to take his bad acting into real life, he is sure to be singing any of these soon: Nice Little Pinguins -...
