    I'm sorry, Pieter, I don't know how to mod this game. All I said is that it would be pretty convenient if one could have the game running in the background while doing other work on the PC.     The fix works, thanks! I'm unable to recreate the error, even when doing the exact same things as I remember doing. Getting a guvernor's ship hunting mission, going to sea, finding the enemy vessel, then quicksaving. I have no idea what might have caused it. I do remember one other time too...

    Revolutions period, first encounter off Eleuthera. EDIT: I got the "Sail Ho!" message, but I'm quite close to the coast. Is there any difference in these kinds of "Sail Ho!" encounters between when you're by the coast and on the open sea? EDIT2: Encounter within sight of Turks.
