Am I allowed to modify work made by a previous modder? Not errors, but narrative style?

You are right. I'll see, if I can come up with some lines for a female character - unless we let them be and decide, that bisexuality is a thing in the Caribbean in the sixteenth to the eighteenth hundres, and the player's character is bisexual (or open to all the fun available). When I once...

You may have to re-texture some of the palm trees in La Tortue town

(I just use window paint for the pictures, I upload here. But I have windows 10. So that's no problem for me.) GIMP has a very extensive help menu, because it's a very extensive program. And the home page links to many good tutorials for special uses. Basic information about GIMP: - You can...

Am I allowed to modify work made by a previous modder? Not errors, but narrative style?

Thank you for clarifying. I'll stay away from making changes to the quest texts, unless I find actual errors and missing details.

Am I allowed to modify work made by a previous modder? Not errors, but narrative style?

Nathan Kell made the quest texts for The Saga of the Blaques. And I think, he went too far with the strong language about Orable Caron. I would like to modify that to a more modest version. Besides, when those quest texts were written, female main characters had not been implemented. That makes...

Respawned guards tend to walk around - is this fixable?

I've noticed, that soldiers on guard duty and normally standing still begin to wander around, if they've been killed and are respawned. Even if I conquer a town in which some guards had begun to wander around, my personal soldiers take up the same behavior. Is this a bug? And can it be fixed?

The Kapitein of Kralendijk: how do I get arrested, once I've scammed the governor?

Well, I was lucky, I had an immortal Nathaniel with me. I suggest, you take a look at this, when you have the time, so you can get the problem solved for a later update/build. I can also give you a copy of the save, before I fetch the officer's uniform from the tailor, if you want. And I...

Discussion How about more variation in the music tracks for Spanish towns?

Right now all the music tracks for Spanish towns in the standard music scheme are taken from the video of the Spanish attack on Speightstown/Oxbay. That means some very dramatic music. Personally, I find that very exhausting to listen to, when I spend time in any Spanish town. And I would very...

The Kapitein of Kralendijk: how do I get arrested, once I've scammed the governor?

I tried out the quests_side.c and used it from the savegave, I made before I fetched my updated uniform. I don't know, if it removed any random spawned people in Kralendijk, when I came back to get arrested, but it removed my crew. So it's a solution of a sort. :shrug

The Kapitein of Kralendijk: how do I get arrested, once I've scammed the governor?

Well, you didn't need to work so fast for my sake. As I wrote, I made it work, if I sent my crewmembers away, before I entered Kralendijk to get arrested. So I'm all set to continue my mission to conquer the rest of the Caribbean (and sail to Conzumel sometime, when I get tired of Nathaniel's...

The Kapitein of Kralendijk: how do I get arrested, once I've scammed the governor?

You are right, Grey Roger. My first holiday was too short. A longer one activated the soldiers. Please tell me, if I understood the situation correctly concerning surrender versus flight: if I surrender and am later pardoned, I get to keep my good relation with Holland, and if I fight and flee...

Suggestion for the To San Juan quest: have the player talk to the innkeeper in Pirate Fort to find captain Pinto

I'm so sorry, I got this thread started. It appears, that I'm so familiar with the quest, that I don't properly read the things people say to me, but only remember things written in my quest book. So I had completely missed the part about talking to the innkeeper in Kralendijk. This is a typical...

I need to know: is there a conflict between going pirate and personal forts?

I didn't just write the names of Hornblower's ships into the file. I wrote down any ship name, I came across. I think, Hornblower saw Witch of Endor in a French harbour, but I don't remember, if he tried to flee, or if the town was occupied by the English. Medjidieh was a ship guarding an area...

A suggestion for the dialogue with companion crewmembers about weapons

Thank you. Considering all the new games, I want to start, I should have a good chance to try this out. Edit: it works. Some of my crewmembers have the armour as part of their outfit, and it immediately changed from the gold armor, I've given them, to what appears to be an iron armour. The...

The Kapitein of Kralendijk: how do I get arrested, once I've scammed the governor?

I decided to finish this quest, while I still have a neutral relationship with Holland, and before I ruin that relationship with my conquest of "unauthorized" English towns. I disguised myself as an officer and "arrested" the governor and "confiscated" his cashbox. When I left the townhall, I...

Suggestion for the To San Juan quest: have the player talk to the innkeeper in Pirate Fort to find captain Pinto

But perhaps something in the quest book about talking to the locals, so a player knows where to ask?

    Spoiler Locations of random items

Now that the game has been expanded to cover all of the islands of the Caribbean, many areas - both towns, jungles and shores - have been recycled in other places. If you enter an area similar to the ones shown in the screenshots, you can often expect to find an item in the same place. Even if...

I need to know: is there a conflict between going pirate and personal forts?

I'm sorry, but it appears, that I wrote the names directly into my own version of the file with the ships names. Back then I also tidied it up and put all entries in alphabetic order for each nation and deleted double (and some triple) entries per nation. So while I have that file, I no longer...
