    WIP HMS Bellona (1760 version)

Quick first thoughts: Looks mighty good! insert the edge loop at the waterline because that will be needed for coppering, but I'm fairly certain the white would go all the way up to the wales before that was introduced.

    French translation

Certainly! To my knowledge they aren't displayed in low resolution online like at the British National Maritime Museum, so if you could find out what they have available that would be fantastic!

IDEA: Actual Meeting of PiratesAhoy! Members

Name: Dan (I'd rather not say my last name unless this is moved to a section of the forum that is viewable only by HoO developers, storm modders etc) Country of Residence:Midwestern USA: Minnesota/Wisconsin depending on the time of year. Interested in a Community Meeting: yes, though trips to...

    NEW Development Trailer?

It's quite easy to underestimate the time it takes to build a ship ;)

I also went to Portsmouth and Greenwich just over a year ago, but my mother and Aunt go over pretty regularly to look after my Grandmother in Surrey. I reckon I could tag along sometime this summer when I'm not at university, hopping over to Portsmouth or Greenwich from Guildford via rail...

    Looking to Join

Hey Ben, Glad to see your interest! While I don't think we are recruiting coordinators from outside the community right off the bat, simply because the very nature of the position requires that one is very familiar with the game, community, and has a specialized role, we would be quite...

Great to see! While you weren't gone terribly long it's nice to see this dedication and enthusiasm you have for the project. :danceDon't worry too much about being busy, everyone gets swamped every now and then and has to take breaks. It's that you come back that counts:)

3D Modeler and Creative mind looking to help.

Oh good, you're working on the largest of the merchant snows. I'm not sure if the buttock line sort of edges are necessary or not, but they could actually help with texturing. what do other modelers think? some of the edges could do with refining, but it looks like you have a solid start! :onya

Hmm my guess is the permissions for the provisional member class aren't entirely sorted yet. It's a new system, so something probably just got mixed up. I'm sure It'll be fixed shortly :)

In this case they are almost certainly large enough. though in the case of many larger vessels with many more scrolly bits and gingerbready stuff, the High definition plans will likely be required for a high detail model

Are you talking about the Supply? (on the national maritime museum website) Sounds good to me. PC and I both linked the same plans so i think that is the one you are talking about. If you don't know UV mapping in Blender yet you will have to learn it. we are currently assembling a set of...

Ah, very well then that makes sense

The Supply works fine with me in terms of being needed for the game. Higher resolution plans are availble through the NMM by purchase. I should think that given the relatively low level of complexity on the decorations of the supply, the preview resolution should be workable without requiring a...

Great to hear Captain Murphy! No sailplans that I know of (in most cases there aren't any) but someone around here should be able to create an adequate one using formulas or conjecture when the time comes

Well we would be best off using the detailed interiors of the ships themselves for that interface, if at all possible. The Panthere is a good example of a ship that will be usable right away and has a mostly completed cabin. http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/panth%C3%A8re-1744.18907/page-7...

Fair enough, whatever works for you in your game! just thought I'd let you know in case you were unaware :)

Ahoy there! I'm joint coordinator for ship modeling with Post Captain. Good choice of program! Maya 2013 is by far the most commonly used program by our modelers. Looks like you have a nice amount of detail on the curvature. However, you do realize that those are frames meant fro a model kit...

    WIP The HMS Southampton

It definitely should, thanks! For some reason Braithwaite's otherwise excellent plans omit the stove and the position of various bulkheads and their doors, so It'll be a great help for that!

Nice work, Armada! very straightforward and informative:onya might it do to post links on the news page, modDB and elsewhere?
