    Paused Bava's HMS Southampton-32 guns, 1757

Holy hell that's a lot of research! :readwill prove quite useful for other types as well I'm sure. I agree completely that the 1761 standard armament should be used. I'll fill in the ship context so you are reassured that it is the correct choice. In the establishment era the armaments and...

Bronze will work fine for now-certainly tend to be more ornate. Hell, having proper patterns for each gun size and carriage is quite the achievement really. Ahh, I believe you are referring to bow chase guns? Those could certainly be longer-though there weren't always dedicated chasers. Except...

    Paused Bava's HMS Southampton-32 guns, 1757

I think it was 8ft! I'm trying to find the history PDF but R. Braithwaite's site seems to be down (he made the plans) and I'm pretty sure gun specs were included in the documents. but yeah it makes sense to build different sizes of one pattern first-even if bronze was generally only used for...

Thanks everyone! :) I'll look into firing points, do we have a 12pdr completed? It would be great to have the example of the St. Albans to follow :napoleon Good catch with the Mizzen Yards! An easy fix. As for the bow, are you referring to the vertical timbers or the headrails themselves (or both?)

Update time! The lantern for the maintop and parts of the connected railing are adapted from the Centurion, otherwise the rest of the rig is new https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43901618/CA/misc/screens/Southampton/42.JPG...

3D Pirate Ship Modelling and Animation

Many of here are self-taught or informally taught, though we do have a number of professionals as well. :yesHistorical accuracy is required, so it's fine if it takes longer. Unfortunately without being able to see any of your past work the most I could assign you to start is a period appropriate...

3D Pirate Ship Modelling and Animation

Ahoy there! I'm the shipbuilding coordinator for Hearts of Oak. I'd be very interested to see what some of your past work looks like! We build vessels to plans from the era of the seven years war (1750s-60s) to a high level of detail and historical accuracy for the game.

Historical collaboration in the Hearts of Oak Videogame

As shipbuilding coordinator, I can say that while we probably have a minimum amount of Spanish plans to scrape by with, more would certainly add to the richness of the game through potentially having better choices :yes So Ship plans for the proper era (about 1745-1765) would be much appreciated!

Architectura Navalis Pl XLII No. 5: Packet Sloop

Do you have plans earmarked of a 7yw era (pre 1765) pilot boat? Otherwise this will be a better bet. The decks would have to be built to their planned heights, and headrails and transom completed(though likely it would be permissible if some of the most ornate bits of gingerbread were omitted)...

Architectura Navalis Pl XLII No. 5: Packet Sloop

Ooh, I like how far you've progressed with this! Hopefully it makes it way into the storm engine....No need for a commitment, but if you wanted to toy with completing this (at your own pace) to Chapman's original specifications and slightly higher detail as an exercise to learn...

    Want to help(3D Modelling)

We are currently in discussions of exactly the most appropriate methods to accomplish clothing and related systems, so if you want to get started on something right away, weapons or game world filler assets (like furniture, trade goods etc) would be best

    Want to help(3D Modelling)

Ahoy there! We have many an asset to be built, each type organized by a coordinator. I happen to fill that role for shipbuilding, but there are many other areas that could use an extra hand too. Might I ask what sort of experience do you have, and is there any chance you could post some...

Need Help Considering a new desktop-recommendations to run Hearts of Oak

Whoa! This thread has gotten some great replies! :)sorry I haven't had much chance to reply myself, was skiing for a few days. So it seems like I could go for building this system on my own based on this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883156313 but with a better power...

Need Help Considering a new desktop-recommendations to run Hearts of Oak

Hmm well I don't have the expertise to figure out what to include for building one from the ground up, but actually installing the parts shouldn't be much of in issue. Though if there was a particularly good deal on a pre-built machine that fulfilled all the requirements I wouldn't shy away from...

Need Help Considering a new desktop-recommendations to run Hearts of Oak

Hey all! So my current desktop is officially beyond salvaging for upgrading(it was middling in 2007)-so I am considering a new one, so that I can do testing myself, run maya better, and eventually run Hearts of Oak, naval action, Urban planning programs, maybe rome II, etc. The official unity...

Finally time for an update, Anchors be damned! I adapted the Sphynx's cabin and stove to fit, added QD & F'csle knees, beams etc, and various other fittings and details added/improved. Essentially Gundeck, QD, and F'csle should be ready for launch minus (moving) guns and (move-able) cabin...
