I can remember checking back here ages ago.. and.. build 14 wasnt released... and it still isnt... do, when will the stable version be released? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

There are several sections of Build 14 that can be found <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=11369" target="_blank">HERE</a> , but Build 14 is still a WIP ( Work In Progress ). Build 14 Alpha 6 & Build 14 Alpha 6 Update 2 are relative stable.

One thing you have to remember is that a lot work goes into making a mod. Once a mod is completed to a certain stage, people have to then test it to make sure that there isn't any bugs.

My advice to you both is to be patient. Modders have personal lives as well.

I understand SuoiveD.. but this IS taking an awful long time... it just seems like longer because Im looking so foward to it!

I'm looking forward to it too, but I'm just waiting patiently. I spend a lot of my time testing mods.

We ARE working on it, but we have <i>waaay</i> to few modders to make a quick release. We have got just Pirate_KK to work on the code and sometimes we hear from Maximus as well. But having two coders, one of whom is really busy and the other of whom we sometimes don't hear from for months, means that not much can be done quickly. We are still working on it and with a bit of luck, it WILL be released at some point. However, at our current rate of progress we cannot give you a release date at all. It will be done when it will be done and that's all we can really accurately say about it.

We can always use another modder, of course.

I understand you're somewhat impatient. Actually I am too. It's taking a long time even to release another new Alpha. That's why we started to release Alpha WIP's; they're the Alpha's between Alpha's. It was actually over a year ago that Alpha 7 was released and Alpha 8 isn't even done yet. So things really are going slow. But at least there IS some progress and modding isn't completely dead yet. That's something to be thankful for at least, considering it's a 2003 game we're working on here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

The only thing im really good at (with computers) is modeling.... If you need anything modeled I would be willing to give it a try.. personally I prefer to model weapons.. so if you want any unique weapons.. i can model em. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

The main question with modeling is: can you get the models into PotC? What program do you use?

You can use 3D Studio MAX and then export to VRML and convert that to GM with Inez Dias' Tool. This process is known to cause some issues with the models though, such as the famous reverse lighting issue. The correct way to do things would be to use Maya, but nobody here has yet found out how to do that properly. We've got Maya and Akella's exporting tools, but we still can't make it work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Nope. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I'm not saying I'm impatient. I only answered a question.
I'd help by testing myself, but I'm barely home at all these days, and when I am, I just simply don't have the time.

BTW: The September date was LAST September and was when we had hoped to be able to release Alpha 8. It was not to be though, considering we're STILL working on that. Basically any release date we might give you, just add another year to it and then you might have an accurate result. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I just thought that..with the new tools acquired from Akella and with the examples attached we had learned how to import models made from scratch?
But I guess things are more complicated than so <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

What if they don't tell us (or should I say, the modders?)? They seemed rather eager for all modding work to be moved to CoAS <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
