Well, at this time I´ve only the "normal" Version of this game.

In the special (limited) editon, which "old" Pirates is included? The orgiginal Pirates or Pirates! Gold? if it´s the originial, is it playable under windows without problems?

And, are they any changes of the old version (like graphics, etc.) ?

Tnx. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

@junior19: Well, under Windows98 it (Pirates! Gold) runs without problems, but I don´t know other configurations like WinME,etc.

The only problems I've had running it was unter XP SP2 even with DosBox. But, I didn't care for SP2 anyways and rolled back to plain old XP and now can play alot of my older games with ease.

And for the record, I've had it running on every incarnation of Windows with the exception of NT. Never had that version to begin with.

I don't think you could play it on NT, as that OS has no directx for the video.

Ahhh. Well then I'm glad I never got NT. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

To get old DOS games running in a modern Windows environment check out VDMSound. It's a virtual DOS sound driver and much more, quite easy to configure and a good solution for many old games.

BTW, hopefully the `non-SP2` XP machine isn't hooked up to the internet; that'd be quite irresponsible IMO. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I don't allow my gaming rig access to the internet for purposes of keeping it free of spyware and other nasty things that can bog it down and also saves me the trouble of not having to shut processes down or anything just to get that extra bit of performance. The rig I do have on the internet uses SP2, so don't worry, matey. I just use rewritable CDs for the purposes of transferring patches and stuff over to my gaming rig.
