What's up with all the spammers on PA! recently

I've noticed that there are a lot of new members recently. When you look at their profiles most of them have web addresses for casino and gambling sites and articles about playing/cheating the system....bottom line is that they are not really legitimate members interested in pirate games but just scumbag spammers infecting our turf.

Doesn't make me feel real safe.
 
I've seen lots of members registering lately, who didn't post. But I hadn't noticed their profiles.
Do you know which ones they are? Should be able to delete them.
 
They usually have a normal name with three capital letters or numbers or combos on the end. If you look at the profile where their personal website addresses are - the sites are all these crazy spam adds. They aren't all casino or gambling either - some are insurance or sales or product sites. Many of them are from Asia somewhere because they have Chinese or some kind of oriental language symbols all over the place.

There's not just a few....there's dozens of these new "members".

I don't know how you can filter out all these fakes
 
There's a lot of different IP addresses on these bastards too.
Somebody would need to make a list of them all and then we can range-ban them or something.
But that's a lot of trouble. :modding
 
Well, I found how to DISPLAY all the spam accounts. But it looks like Zenforo doesn't allow me to delete them all in one go.
There are a 132 pages worth of them with 10 per page. So.... who wants to do that....? :facepalm
 
That sounds like mindless clicking, and I'm pretty mindless. But I don't want to be set up as an administrator either.
 
Why? Because I'm too much of a loose cannon. Hopefully I would not use those powers" at all.
 
I wonder if you could be temporarily granted access to the Admin Control Panel. o_O
 
Scumbags!!! I took a look also. This could be some promoting company with computer savy cheap labor in China or it could be a promotion amplifying spambot that is randomly generating names, false locations, and site addresses. People/companies pay a lot to have their wares promoted. Have you ever seen the scum sites that promote and guarantee a certain number of looks or hits on your website, Youtube channel, etc... this is the same type of deal I think.

I would bet if one could trace down the originating IP segments they could be blocked.

I did try looking at the IP addresses, but it is quite a lot of them. :facepalm
 
Any matching patterns in the segments? I almost feel like hacking their mac addresses...I could hurt them worse than they could possibly imagine....whoops did I say that? Disregard...:D

They should know that they are now being watched by people that they really shouldn't want watching them :wp
 
Problem is.... apparently I can't even set up anyone else to gain access to the Admin Control Panel.
So the only people who are regularly here who DO have access are Armada and myself. That's not quite enough.
Especially not for something like this. Bit of an annoying situation, really! :modding
 
Two (or should I say 1) of the scumbags are here now and I've already got positive backdoor corridor traces via satellite triangulation. They will be very sorry when their own government people knock on their doors.

And this with my laptop in the middle of nowhere! :cool:

Hmmm... I've been seeing IP addresses located in France and Canada.
 
Are you tunneling through their proxies? I know at one time PA! used to be set up so that if you were using a proxy server that you could not even sign in.

If Xenforo and hosting has the option of blocking proxy users then that would be the easiest way to stop this from happening again.

They could have more than one operational location but I don't think that they are that sophisticated. One location has a big red dot on it right now.
 
But you still can't get into the Admin Control Panel, can you? Here's to hoping Thagarr, Keith or William will respond soon for that. :facepalm
