What do we need in a mod?

i agree with jefflackey...I like everything he says there. I think that nations could do more to punish us bad boys. For example, if you have a price of 200,000 (or I think it was more like 200,000,000) on ur head, there should be hundreds of privateers and bounty hunters coming after you!

Also, I wish that there could be more sword varieties like in PoTC.

Then...I wish that the smoke discharged from the `cannon-fire` would go farther out, thicker and stay around longer. Looks more dramatic!

<!--QuoteBegin-jefflackey+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jefflackey)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->1. Have a lot more models for each category (plain, attractive, beautiful, etc.) of gov daughters, Make them more individual, so that I can;t get the same gal at several ports - if I want THAT babe, I have to make sure that I please THAT governor. Suddenly I need to stay friends with, say, France because I want that specific daughter. They really need to be more individual. This would be a huge improvememnt!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Oh, definitely. I actually stopped my crusade against the Dutch because I liked how the beautiful daughter looked like. It would be nice if there were more variation, though.

<!--QuoteBegin-jefflackey+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jefflackey)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->2. Some more characters so I don't have to track, say, Raymondo down over and over and over. // Just so that I have some different henchmen to chase down.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah, a roster of names to pick from wouldn't have been too much to ask for, would it? This may be `hard-coded` though, after all it only ever applies to Raymondo, so I doubt a simple mod can "fix" this to how we want it.

<!--QuoteBegin-Massimo+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Massimo)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->2. Include more tradable goods such as coco, tobacco, cotton, & coffee. Something needs to be done to make trade more viable.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'm not sure wether changing the number of available commodities is as simple as adding more entries to the database, unfortunately it doesn't seem like it. This may be a good option, for people who want more items instead of lumping them as 'goods' and 'luxuries'.

<!--QuoteBegin-Massimo+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Massimo)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->4. Make harder missions. There should be harder requirements to achieve the different ranks. Perhaps conquering an amount of ports or attacking a # of enemy ships.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I agree, currently it seems too simple to achieve ranks. A quick `10-ship` rampage is enough to grab quite a few titles, which doesn't seem feasible. Also, fame is only applied mostly to gaining rank, isn't it? Like somebody else posted, fame should also be based on how notorious you are. Especially since the statistics are all there: how many ships you've attacked, how many towns you've plundered, how many artifacts you've amassed -- that should all contribute.

<!--QuoteBegin-Vestax159+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Vestax159)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->-Expand on some of the aspects of the game such as the raiding of towns by adding a greater depth to it. For example be able to purchase better guns for your army. Also expand on upgrades for your ships since i thought the upgrades didnt do that great of a job in upgrading or costing alot from your gold. Add more hidden treasures etc, give the ability to visit holy sites with rewards like a decrease in age, and give rewards for recieving certain ratings on certain dificulties.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Money doesn't quite scale properly, eh? Like, the cost of a diamond necklace is often equal to what you get for successfully sacking a town. I don't think the others are easy modding, though.

The settlements and religious missions are always friendly, I believe this needs to be adjusted. I don't think they should scale all the way like ports do, however, since you can't sack them. They should reflect how well they like you by how much they charge you for repairs and merchandise.

Screw $0.02, there's my one buck fifty. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

One thing that´s desperately needed is better balanced ships. The big ships carry way too few cannons, and some of the small to medium sized ones have too many. As an example, the Brig of war and the war Galleon have the same number of guns (32 each). And a large frigate has even more guns than war galleon. I´d rather prefer ships like the war galleon or Ship of the line to be sluggish juggernauts, but incredibly well armed (bout fifty guns and upward).

Yes, good idea, that.

I find the whole `9-types`-`but-3`-`sizes-of`-each thing unnecessary. Why not just make all 27 different. Then we could balance out the stats and give them all proper individual names, instead of things like "medium galleon".

Especially since some ships have identical statistics exept for one item. Take the frigate and the brig of war, for example. Both mount 32 guns and have cargo space of 80. The only difference is, the frigate turns slower and mounts a few more men (don´t know the exact number right now).
