`Un-Randomisation` of Events

Col. Kurtz

Landlubber
Well comparing the new Pirates with my old C64 version I noticed that it´s pretty much a remake. Well, I know you´re all aware of this. But then I noticed that in the new version the most new features deal with the things that were just randomized events in the old version. All those background events happening in the carribean sea. In the old days you´d enter a tavern and get a list of news. War/peace declarations, new goldmines, pirate/indian attacks etc.. In this version you well you cant actually control those events, but you can interact with em. You can be the one who´s involved into indian/pirate attacks, you can built up the citys or help going to war/meaking peace by excorting a ship. All those former random/news events can be interacted with:

Indian attack -> You can go to the natives and tell em to attack
Pirate attack - > Same here
New gold mine at -> Sent settlers/new plants/Governors
War/peace -> Escort the ships
Amnesty -> You can tell one of the monks to ask for your amnesty

Well thats just my impression. Did I forget something?

You could achieve an amnesty in the original as well. If you were hostile with the English, say, and England was at war with Spain, you just had to attack the Spanish a lot, sooner or later you would be granted an amnesty by the English.

You can still get amnesty, but you do it through the Jesuit Missions. Sometimes if you are wanted, the friar will ask you to escort a fellow brother to one of the ports of the country that is wants you where he is a friend of the Governor and they will put a good word in for you. I actually went from 50k price on my head to nothing with one of those missions.
