<b>Moder's Code as per Retexturing Tutorial</b>

I am opening this thread in order to have an easy Thread in which to Update the Moder's Code List, and because the one in the Original Tutorial was there as an example. The actual List was in a subsequent Page in the Original thread. It is obviously not practical.

Please make this one Sticky

Also please Refer to the "Tools of the Trade" thread, that Keith just resurrected <img src="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> for tools.

The Retexturing Tutorial was not updated with the new Tools out of respect for Rexman and his initial efforts and work to open retexturing for the game!

Question, I plan on releasing texture pack in two or three days. How though do I upload a screenshot into the forums? I know, I'm really not up to date on these things. Thanks though.

Hello, Moder's Code added jmv

Also, to post Screenies, have to upload them somewhere first then type the code here linking to them.

Code:
[img]http://yourlink/yourfilename[/img]

That would be all

Opps Sorry for the delay :) missed this.

Was admiring your Reskins rather than looking at me threads :)

I was wondering if alphabetical components could be used, as well? This may greatly reduce the potential for conflicts and could help people know the modder that did the work, easier.

For instance in my personal mods, I am using GP.

Hello Grumblepunk,

The answer is yes, but an alphabetical system, has been tried and it is `self-defeating` over time.

And since, anyone could come and register GrandPumba as a Nickname and there you have it..conflict. To say nothing about abreviations of some Ship types and names or any other texturing format.

With a numerical system you can;t go wrong really, it is same as the Internet itself.

Asociation of an IP address 203.117.178.24 <=> forum.piratesahoy.net , my profession is in the IT field, so for me it made perfect sence and without any prejudice here. Simple and effective.

But as long as there is no conflict, if GP is what you wish to release your work with, then none can really force you to do otherwise.

This system here is a sugestion" based on previous experience with modding Sea Dogs on a grand scale and with such a dynamic and `self-involving` community.

However, if down the line conflicts do happen, know that Build assemblers will have to sort that problem, and some files will need to be renamed, just making you aware before time.

Cheers! xD:

Good advice all around, Duke. I was thinking the alpha component would be "registered" the same as the numeric. I.e.: `01-99`/`1A-9Z`/`A1-Z9`/`AA-ZZ`/etcetera. Hrm...I can't think of a number. Not like I'm releasing anything right yet anyway. xD:
