Need Help Ships_init problem (GOF 2.0)

Hello to all, it's a long time since I follow this forum, but now I have a problem with the game.
The changes of "ships_init" file (Age of pirate/program/ships) do not apply in the game correctly...
For example I have changed the caliber of the Surprise, but in the game the caliber is too high or too low.

refShip.MaxCaliber = 16;

I start a new game and the Surprise have the 24pounder, after I opened again the game, and the Surprise have the 12pound. How is it possible? I tried to change a number of ships but the problem is the same.

How to solve? Thank you all!
 
Unless that mod has a reinitialize functionality, any changes will not affect existing savegames.
 
Sorry for my bad english :unsure
I start a totally new game with a new charatter, a new savagame etc. I think the problem is due to the fact that the ships have random upgrades, it's true?
