Here is a solution on how to set up a (free) Microsoft Visual Studio development environment for people that need something a little more than Notepad++ and the laborious searching of windows explorer.
1) If needed, install Microsoft Visual Studio. Select Desktop development with C++.
2) Select Open Folder on Start Page or in File menu.
3) Navigate to and select your root POTC folder.
4) Go crazy
PS: This software is pretty large, so if you need something smaller, here is a tutorial made by Erwin Lindemann for setting up Code Blocks Code :: Blocks
