Solved Problem with re-installing the game

Sadly my game has died. This has happened before and I have fixed it by re-installing the game from the ground up, original POTC, then the build mod, then the latest update. This time when I tried to install the original game it started to load stopped and I got this message.


'An installation support file could not be installed. Catastrophic failure. Since this happened with two different original game discs I think this might be a Windows 10 problem that someone knows how to overcome. I hope so, if not I am going to have give up this game after 15 years.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Make sure you completely delete the previous install. And make sure you're not trying to install to "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".

Since this happened with two different original game discs

Did you get this sorted in the end?
Or maybe a digital download would help?

Thank you for checking. Yes I got everything reinstalled and working beautifully over the weekend, thanks to little advice from Grey Roger. As always the community came through.
