I will try the # 6 button, although at times I used it (which was only a couple), it seemed not to be doing anything.

Although I getting better with the ducking and jumping, and seemingly doing that when I suppose I should not be doing that. That did help though in one sword fight. It is in the timing somewhere in the game, I just miss it sometimes!

It kind of looks neat to be jumping or ducking when the enemy Captain is not doing anything at that moment. I just keep hitting keys during those swordfights!
<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Sometimes I even hit the correct key!

Actually, it may be #5, I can't recall precisely. Manual says #6, but I think it's wrong.

Heh, I'm still working those ducks and jumps out, but yeah, they're fun... And I, just like you, sometimes hit the correct key too! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

No its actually keypad no. 6 to taunt as default (you can change key settings I think too), its really useful too, cause if you drag the Advantage fully on your side, the computer is like mega slow (I think Difficulty level is dependant on recovering advantage)...

Currently trying Swashbuckler on 1680, got 119 points at age 38 at poor health, I need to get Duke on England and France (2 points needed), and also the 5 points for the treasures, and I'll get my fame 126. Wont be hard now for the treasures (I think), but will be harder for the Duke dom (I need to get me a Mail Runner so I can go fast and be able to fight...).

My main gripe was that I coulda done it alot faster if it werent for Chasing the 9 pirates here and the evil bad dudes such as Montalban, Raymondo and Mendoza all over the Carribean.. That was so frustrating.....

The story of my life... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Finally gotten 126 Fame Points doing everything at 1680 at age 40, I think I have left 5 - 10 more years left in me to plunder and pillage since my skill is Medicine and I have the 2 medicinal herbs along with it.

But I find it quite boring now to bother trying to get more money and land since that isnt shown on the Hall of Fame score.

I gonna go focus on pure piracy (where I am not allied to any towns rather, I'll destroy every town possible to poor), while doing quests for the fame (bar the Romance and the 4 Countries). I should max out to about 84 fame points.

What era is good to do pure piracy where its possible to see the Ship of the Line (prolly not gonna bother using it since I prefer to capture rather than destroy). I already done 1660 and 1680 eras, I hope to do 1600 to 1640 eras since i havent tried the 3 other eras yet.

1600 Era is fun, but rather scarce compared to the other eras. Not as many ports, but alot more settlements, missions, and indian villages. That's where my current game is and I'm enjoying it despite the loss of ports. I've seen 2 SOLs in the game as well, so they are in the 1600 campaign, so you know. Oh, and gold is not as plentiful as far as plundering merchants go, so it's a bit more challenging in that aspect as well. Not too much more though.

Oh a challenge to aim for alot of gold and not bother with dukedoms <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />. I guess my pure piracy starts at 1600 Era <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />.

Yeah, I sure wish you got a detailed look at your pirate scores on the Hall of Fame score. What good is being able click on your wife to see your wedding etc while you are playing the game if you can't see it from the Hall of Fame. Say you only managed to take Blackbeard down during one of your careers and you'd like to "relive" the moment after you've retired... too bad. Can't see that it would have been too hard to include that. We would have mentioned that in beta but they version we had was nothing like the release with respect to the career and menu screens etc.

Hmm I look forward to geht the new trainer in my hands... Then we can play the Silver Empire era. And I also want more damn <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Well to get to the point.

I startet another career and finished as French Duke. 49 years old and married with a beautiful french daughter.

I have yet to get back into this game after finishing off my FIRST voyage, but I hope to do so this week... I really would like to finish up some of these quests - I just have to remember not to attack every ship I see! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I have not had time to even finish a game yet. But then again, I just play for the feel of the game, and not the stats. I am playing though as a pure Pirate, and I think the game, wants the player to shy away from that part of the game. But then, it just may be tougher, the way I am playing it.
I feel like defeating another Pirate at this time is not as important to me, as stealing away the ship that the Pirate was going to attack. (if I get there and horn in on the action). That makes me feel more like a Pirate!

Feelings, oh, oh, oh, Feelings!

I'm in it for the adventures, not the score.

One expedition whilst returning to Curacao after getting a treasure down near Santa Marta, what does my eye find on the horizon? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

The TREASURE FLEET! So boldly steering my Brigatine into the midst of the fleet (3 treasure galleons) I capture them one by one. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

With the 3 burning ships following my damaged ship I continue to limp back to Curacao. But.... DUN DUN DA!!!! A pirate hunter and a War Galleon depart Rio de la Hacha bearing down on my cripled fleet.

With panic in the eyes of the `50-odd` crew remaining on my Brig the race was on to reach Curacao. The War Galleon quickly slipped behind and eventually disappeared from the horizon, but the pirate hunter was relentless in his pursuit, eventually catching us north of Maracaibo.

The sea battle was joined, and both ships tacked and dodged for the advantage of a clean shot. The air smelled of gunpowder as volleys of cannonballs sailed through the air. Luck was with us that day my friends, as even though the vile pirate hunter was a faster ship, our first cannon blasts sent balls through his sails. Slowing vastly to less than our speed it was a simple matter of clearing the desks of his men. Our ship limped towards the crippled sloop as she lolled in the water and showed us her keel just under the waterline.

But they could not flee! The sword fight was short and bloody, but when we sailed into Curacao harbour, as well as the captured treasure fleet, we had a leaky sloop as well.

Who needs fame, promotions and dancing when you can have adventures like that! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
