Pirates Online

Dont know where to put this thread, sorry.

I've been looking for info on POC Online, though i couldnt find much. And there is just one thing i'd like to know:
How do the crew-system work? Is the crew a group of players who command a ship? Or do the game engine control the crew?

Cheers!

I haven't read anything about PotC Online, but I don't think that a ship will have multiple players onboard - making a major game element require a group is not a wise decision... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> Especially in a game that is aimed at 10-14 year olds and families as <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6165079.html" target="_blank">this</a> article says... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> From my own experience, I know that 12-year old MMORPG players and cooperation do not mix. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

As I understand it (I have no first hand game play knowledge), it works similar to the PotC game. Both crew and hired officers are NPCs under computer AI, only the ship's captain (i.e. you) is a player. You interact with other game players onshore and can act as a team during quests and can join up as a fleet. Makes for an interesting problem, you and another player jump a Frigate and pound it into submission, you take a ton of damage during the fight and now have to worry about your pirate ally turning on you too!

I also understand that players can randomly encounter other players when sailing around. That Frigate you jumped may be under the control of another player!

I suspect that it will work like that too. Pity I won't be playing... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

That sounds like it would get all to confusing after a bit. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> Cooperation would probably become a problem after a while when your on quests together. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />
