Pirates! CD Key Location

To go along with this train of thought ...

I know some of you probably don't see how this makes sense that I would talk about saying how it is fine to patch POTC with the no CD, but that we don't allow anyone here to post a CD Key for Sid Meier's Pirates! Well, I can sum it up in a few words -

<b>BECAUSE WE MAKE THE RULES!</b>

So, we've said this stuff before, and we'll say it again. Anyone who posts a CD Key on this site to SMP, or links to warez, torrent sites, or any place that promotes software piracy - You will be banned, stripped of this wonderful haven and left to sit outside in the dark on the street corner like some helpless geek who couldn't get a date for Homecoming.

Signed,

<!--`QuoteBegin-William`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(William)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The point in the matter is - I see no fault in a no CD patch to POTC. If Disney finds this to be a problem, they can lookup my `e-mail` address on this site and give me their two cents about it. CDKey Location

I just got a new computer and put my old hard drive into it. I lost my CDKey and the game isn't installed on the computer yet. does anyone know how else i can find the key?

I meant that i lost the manual

Look in yer manual or in yer Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareAtariSid Meier's Pirates!CDKey... but then ye sayed ye hain't installed it yet! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Does anybody know if the `cd-key` is somewhere in the cd?

It needs to be somewhere for the game to check if it clears.

Help ME pLease <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-Arigard`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Arigard)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->could there possibly be a more annoying place to put a cd key? dam you Atari! they did it with NWN too! On the manual??? jeez. i lose manuals like they're going out of style![/quote]

Wow does this sound familiar. I wanted to play the NWN expansion but had reinstalled Windows and no matter how long I searched I couldn't find the manual to reinstall. I've also got a set of install disks for BF 1942 with no key <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I finally went and bought NWN again. On the way to the register I picked up a package of those pens used for marking on recordable CD's. Now the first thing I do with a new game is write the CD key right on the first install disk so it won't happen again. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

i took my pirates! cds with me to college so i could re-install on my laptop. i only brought the little envelope deal that they come in because frankly, its all that i have left from the game that I got almost a year ago. Unfortunately, for reasons unfathomable to myself, the CD key was apparently printed in the manual a threw a way a litte less than almost a year ago. Am I up the creek without a paddle?

Either find yer manual or recover yer key from de registry o' de machine ye originally be installin' it on! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I just bought the game yesterday and installed the 2 cds that came in the package with no problems. I was never asked for a CD key to enter during the process nor did I check to see if there even is a CD key. (I will when I get home). As long as the 2nd CD disk was in the drive, the game booted up and played.

Just wondering if newer versions of Pirates don't need a CD key or perhaps my retailer sold me a pirated Pirate copy?

Okay so how does one pull up the Registry to find this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareAtariSid Meier's Pirates!CDKey, as I too have a store bought copy of this game and it too has no cd key in the manual. I have it installed so I need to find the key I used and write it down for the next time I need it.

I found that you use regedit but i still dont see the cdkey in there just the install and default. No cdkey? I might just have to e-mail the maker...But if its in my Registry I would rather just get it from there. Any help would be great.

Never mind, I have what I need, thanks anyway.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />
