Pirates of the Caribbean: Community Prequel Script

Well, getting material published is not an easy thing to do, unless you have the means to publish it yourself. You have a lot of suites that are not at all open to anything new and instead stick to their tried and true, resulting in lots of rejected manuscripts.

We can maybe turn our screenplay into story form to be published as a novel or even just keep it in screenplay form and publish it, that would allow us to get around Elliot and Rossio's concerns since there would no longer be threats of lawsuits. Disney could simply purchase the movie rights from a published work.

We can't officially publish it WITHOUT Disney though, since they hold the right to the characters.
But we can't GET THROUGH to Disney either.

Hack their main website?? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

But I think if enough people like this then Disney might see a reason to publish it or do SOMETHING with it?

True, we'd have to secure permission for use of the characters. Do you guys know if there have been any books written about these characters?

Jack Sparrow: Yes
Beckett: No
Mercer: No
Tia Dalma: Makes apperances in Jack Sparrow books

Any Others?

Hmm...we should ask Commodore if he knows anyone to talk to...

(My neck is killing me, dang trampoline <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> )

Probably not. I imagine he would've told us if he'd have gotten anything published.
Anyway, in a couple of weeks I'll try to get back into this thing. Stand by or start already. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Well, we can continue going on with the last scene while Pieter rewrites what he had posted. I'll see if I can tinker with it later.

Just to let you know
What I have read so far is AWESOME!!!! I can actually hear Johny Depp saying the lines of Jack Sparrow in my head <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

How far did you get?
And yes, it IS awesome! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

That's great! I'm glad Jack comes through as authentic. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> We have so many good ideas for this that are sprinkled throughout this thread, the script should be awesome once its completed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> If you want to join in, please fell free. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

To the scene of the pirate flag in the water and Mercer ordering all men be shot in the water (Page 60)

Are you working on another draft? It would be nice if we could find the script how it appeared on the first page (before your site seemed to disappear <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />)
I may contribute ideas as I see fit <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> (might incorporate some of the script in with the Jack Sparrow quest <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />)

I still have that script-file actually. By the looks of it, I've even got THREE unfinished drafts:
<a href="http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoist_the_colours.htm" target="_blank">http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoist_the_colours.htm</a>
<a href="http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoist_the_colours2.htm" target="_blank">http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoi...he_colours2.htm</a>
<a href="http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoist_the_colours_v3.htm" target="_blank">http://piratesahoy.net/build/temp/potc_hoi..._colours_v3.htm</a>

Unfortunately the most recent draft has disappeared off of the face of the earth and eventually I'll write another.
Unless somebody else saves me the trouble. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Too bad we never did finish this. But I did fix the thread index in the opening so people can look at our ideas again! :doff

I have been thinking about this, especially after "On Stranger Tides" came out. Is everyone who was contributing to this script still here?

Uhm... no. Haven't seen Mercer or Gunsmith in ages and Captain Maggee only occasionally drops by.
The reason I brought it up is because Commodore John Paul Jones is back and was expressing interest. :wp

There were a lot of good ideas in this script that were consistent with the overall tone of the movies. It seemed a shame just to abandon it.

Very true. In my mind, our story is still the real version of the events; it is just tooo clever!

That's the way I always felt! xD: Some of the ideas in there were very clever and I felt we were establishing a much better timeline of events then the screenplay writers could ever come up with.

Fear not, lads... I've actually read through this thread, compiled notes, and started mapping out a rather clever and entertaining plot! Heck, I've even written the first eight pages of the beginning of the story this morning!

I've dabbled in shipbuilding... I've dabbled in some minor coding and modding.. but I think I can help this community most by writing stories and researching to maintain historical accuracy. :)
