On this day May 25'th 1625, William Barlow died. He is celebrated as the discoverer of the nature and properties of loadstones. In 1597, Barlow wrote The Navigators Supply, a book containing many things of principal importance to the art of Navigation, with descriptions and use of diverse instruments used for the purpose. His book Magnetical Advertisements concerning the nature and property of the Loadstone was published in 1618.
