honestly, it struck me as a little bit odd, that every chest (at least in 12.1) appears to be locked. doesnt anybody ever FORGET to lock his chest? i know, i surely do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Sometimes chests do open immediately, so not every chest is closed. Most are though.

if i had to actually EQUIP my lockpick before opening a chest, and then going back to my weapon... well, i can only speak for me, but THAT would surely annoy the living hell outta me... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

If we'd make the lockpick equippable, I wouldn't make it a BLADE_ITEM_TYPE, but a LOCKPICK_ITEM_TYPE. That way you wouldn't have to de-equip your blade to be able to equip the lockpick. The reason for making the lockpick equippable would be because you might not want to use a lockpick when you'd open a treasure chest, because there is the risk of it getting stuck in the lock so you couldn't get to the treasure anymore, so you could de-equip the lockpick and not have that risk anymore. In short: Using a lockpick increases your chance of opening the lock abnd makes sure you don't hurt yourself, but there is the risk of the lockpick getting stuck in the lock. If you don't use the lockpick, everything works as original.

It's a pirate game - it's objective is to get the treasure chest, not to open treasure chest <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

*Bursts out laughing*

I like the idea of the lockpicking minigame, if it is possible. True, it could annoy the heck out of people, but let's look at it like this: there are treasure quests in the game, so the normal chests could still open the way they did, and the secret treasure hide could trigger the minigame. Just a hint.

i agree with the above post. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> i did notice that my topic has suddenly been hijacked. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> oh well, it just went to an unrelated subject, nevermind. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
