I want give some help for those newatPotc, then I will explain my own stile of game and tactics onsea, for every PotC new player.
TUTORIAL- after have taken the new crewmembers in tavern, I ask to the owner about someone that need to be escorted elsewhere, then, afterIhave taken the positive or negative reply,I come back to the shop to ask about cargo to move. I get all the opportunities before Oxbay is invaded, and avoid to go at loanshark, becauseI dislike to be indebted at the start;
SAVE AFTER OXBAY IS CONQUERED- this allow you to restart a new game without doing the tutorial, and, if you have some cargo to move elsewhere, or a ship to escort, you can do easily from this point and gaining your first piastres in an easy way;
FIRST ESCORTS - with a modest Lugger you can't find cargo to move, then go to every isle and ask in tavern until you find some merchant in need of an escort, and you will gain good piastres. Do this until you are capable to take a better and larger ship.
MOVE CARGO - the best for gain with cargo is to have a large and capable ship. Usually I choose Barques, and when i become more rich, Fluyts;
SKILL PTS AND ABILITIES: depends your stile.The better choice is to start placing 2 pts onSailing and take Storm Helmsman ability,then atnew levels,start to choose at your pleasure following your idea about the character.
