Montalban's hideout

Hi,

i can't find Montalban's hideout, that should lie south of Campeche.
On the point of the red X there is only a strange headstone,
nothing else.
Could this be a bug or what ?

If you wonder about the language : it is the german version.
If you want to understand some words, just ask and i will translate it for you.

I have reached everything in the game except all Lost Cities -1 and Montalban!

What is north of you?

Similar Problem except my Map is a bit harder as there is no Land mark...

strangely there is <i>always</i> a water landmark associated with any map
even if it doesn't show on your map

so
search on the eastern coast from Campeche going south
all the way to the corner of the Bay of Honduras
(and the hidden lake at that corner)

If you can walk through map landmarks (dead trees, Totem poles . . .)
the you are not even close.
Once you cannot walk through things, you are in a legit map region.

I know you won't see this, years later, but THANK YOU rupertlittlebear for your suggestion. My pirate was growing old and grey searching the land south of Campeche for that damned hideout. Followed your advice, found a water landmark on the east coast, went inland, and bingo...... THANK YOU!
