This is a 2D game develpoed by Brawsome, an indie-developer from Australia. It definitely doesn't appear to be a typical pirate game, the sea dogs are actually dogs!

Scheduled for a June 2010 release on PC and Mac, Jolly Rover follows the story of an anthropomorphic young dog named Gaius James Rover. Rover is an ambitious fellow who wants to become a famous clown, but instead opts for a life of piracy after being taken captive by a scurvy seaman when he was attempting to deliver rum to start his own circus.

Rover's journey spans 60 scenes in total, more than three Caribbean islands, with 25 fully-voiced characters to interact with. These pirate dogs aren’t the meanest on the seas, as the title is aiming to appeal to the casual crowd to introduce them to a genre that has been stagnant in recent times (not considering ports and remakes of classics).

In an effort to keep it as simple as possible, Jolly Rover employs a common technique that ensures players always know what they have to do next. When players are pointing and clicking around the environments, they’ll notice that every interactive object is in blue. Once players mouse over the object, the text will turn white. Essentially, with the tutorial and simple control aspects, Jolly Rover shouldn’t make gamers jump over hurdles to learn the basics of the genre.
