is there a walkthrough for this somewhere?

I decided to help the excise girl and came as far as trading info with C Eastwood on Nevis. But Miss Brinkley is not to be found in the strange house contrary to Mr Eastwoods claim. Another woman is.

This a trap or what?

Hi,

thanks awfully. I redid this with, I think, all the proper quest stages and dialogues and it worked.

But now I cannot enter Speightstown to find Billy after speaking to the agent girl. The entrance is locked. What next?

Regards, Oldtimer

I think I had that in the earlier versions - go into the fort - come out immediately into the town, then continue.
(It is correct in later version.)

When trying to visit Petros on Guadeloupe, Mr. Gibbs mentions there being TWO ships. What is he going on about? There's only one... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

At my suggestion, Screwface made some modifications to the Guadeloupe jungles to put a REAL plantation model there.
It should have no implications on your quest, but you might want to check it.

Trying to trigger the trap quest in the jungle proved a bit hard, because I couldn't figure out where to trigger it.
Eventually I did though. Should the trap quest be a bit more obvious?
Anyway, do you have the "KnockedOut" movie that is referred to? Because I don't... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Just for fun, here's a screenshot I made of a Twister in Guadeloupe port! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

Yeah, cool quest! I just started playing through again using the Mings path.

Nice! You played the Brock version before? I started straight on the Mings one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />
So far it's really good. Congratulations Short Jack Gold! Have you ever considered putting yourself in the quest somewhere too?
It's a bit odd having most of the forum members, but not the famous Short Jack Gold anywhere in the quests. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

However, I strongly suspect you get stuck again shortly after on the capture of HMS Interceptor.
I removed the Norrington dialog from PROGRAM\DIALOGS\Cabinfight_dialog.c because it shouldn't be in there, but it's not yet re-added anywhere else.
Can you please check that, Short Jack Gold?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I've just changed code so boarding dialog for J. Norrington (and any other quest character) could be put into proper character's dialog file without necessity of modifying cabinfight_dialog.c. I also readded Norrington dialog. That must be tested though.

I feel that I'll need to make upload again.

BTW, does that mainquest takes into account that Norrington can fight to the end and be killed during that boarding? If not, I think that should be added, or we should implement option of "forced" surrender (something opposite to existing "nosurrender").

pirate_kk

Thanks, Pirate_KK! That would indeed be a lot better. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Let me know if you need a forced surrender. There's already a couple of commented out lines in LAi_boarding.c that will cause the captain to surrender either on the top deck before fighting or on the next deck after fighting on the top deck. If necessary we can make him surrender when you get to the cabin instead.

Hook

Does the captain ever appear on the deck if he isn't surrendering?

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Does the captain ever appear on the deck if he isn't surrendering?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
No. If the captain doesn't surrender, he'll be one of the boarders in the captain's cabin. He won't, unfortunately, have all the money he'd normally have, but he usually has a variety of weapons.

I did a boarding today and went straight for the captain, who always appears behind his desk in the large cabin. I forgot to block, and he killed me in one hit. I'd like to know what sword he was using.

Good job Mr. Captain! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
Would indeed be good to ensure Norrington does surrender before you'd have to kill him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I've NEVER had to fight him (either in this game or CotBP) - usually one broadside and he's up there on the poop deck waving his white shirt.

I have a strange issue here. When i go to take the interceptor and fire on it...i discovered my cargohold had no gun powder, so i was forced to board and have had to fight norrington to the death everytime...
