Installing Error! (Please Help)

Okay, first off i want to tell you im running windows vista and using the program compatability wizard. I set it to run as windows xp service pack 2. While installing it made it all the way to the last step and then it says...

Error1305.Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!\Assets\pak4.FPK. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

I tried cleaning the disc because there are scratches on the back but it still does not fix the problem. When I looked to see if the pak4.FPK file was there it was but there was nothing in it im guessing, because it was 0 MB file size.

Please tell me if there is anything I can do to fix this problem or if I can even run the game on Vista, because i haven't seen any reference to it anywhere.

oh and also its a new laptop with 2048 MB ram and nVidia 6150 graphics card.

you know, I have a sneaky suspicion that your laptop may be a bit of a problem all by itself

(but I have no idea what is causing your actual problem, besides the fact that Vista HATES and despises games.)

Lots of problems with Vista so far, I'm not even going near it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

actually vista is best for games.. well, games that work with vista, atleast thats what tech guru's tell me because vista uses the directx 10. and the newer games are going to only be compatable with vista.
