Inquisition

Would it be possible to add an Inquisition mod? The time-frame of PoTC is ripe with religious conflict. French Huegnots, inspired by John Calvin, are persecuted by France for example. In any case, could you also include a quasi-"nation" being the Catholic Church where you are hired as an Inquisitor? It could have missions like capture so-and-so ship because the Captain is a heretic or go and kill so-and-so because he's a heretic.

I'm not a modder, but I really enjoy and admire these mods!

From what I understand, it was mostly confined to Europe. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Well we do have a Maltese Knight coming over from Europe to track down the animist cultists.
And we have reanimated skeletons in dungeons on 3 islands.

Anything goes in POTC. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Such a mod can be made, but, like so many other mods, it'd be a lot of work. So if that mod is to get made, there must be somebody who wants to do it. Most, if not all, modder prefer to mod what they like themselves. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Whether you encounter skeletons or pirates in a dungeon should be completely random. So if you encounter skeletons one time, there might be pirates next time.

As a matter of fact, the major religious conflicts took place more in the XVI century than in the XVII. Talking of France, protestants cannot be persecuted as they weren't during most of the XVII : the 'Edit de Nantes' is signed in 1598 and revocated in 1685. Before, French Calvinists were as strong and dangerous as French catholics, and it was one the worst times for France... a civil war. And after, the Hugenots weren't dangerous at all and simply tried to hide themself, and France didn't care at all about Protestants of others countries.
It is true that some events occured, like the siege of La Rochelle under Louis XIII and the Cardinal of Richelieu, but it wasn't entirely because of religous matter.

On the other hand, in the XVI you could add another 'quasi-nation' beeing the Calvinists. And they weren't peacefull at all ! They would have given you those kind of mission without an hesitation.
And the inquisitors are not supposed to do those kind of work... If the heretic is serving the same country (Spain or Portugal) he doesn't need to ask you as he have enough power to arrest and judge him. And if the heretic is of another country, well it's more lucky to be the governor that would ask to kill him if he is dangerous. For exemple the Portuguese Governor asking you to kill an Hollandese. (As a matter of fact, I don't understand why Portugal and Holland are friendly? I've read a lot about Hollandese trying to conquer Angola or settling in Brasil. They should hate each other, no?)

But what you say is true, the religion should be a parameter. For exemple it's not likely that a Portuguese even talk to you if he knows that you're not catholic.
Personaly, I wish there could be Jesuits in PotC. They were everywhere by those time, even in Japan. (Remember Voltaire in 'Micromegas', saying that the alien Micromegas studied in the Jesuit monastery of his planet near Sirius!!! He wrote that in the XVIII, but in the XVII it was the same situation.)
