I'd certainly be interested as HMS Indefatigable features heavily in the "Hornblower" storyline.

The one suggestion I'd make is that if there's one piece of a sailing ship which isn't generic, it's the figurehead. The pictures on that Wikipedia page, along with this picture of someone's model, indicate that the figurehead should be a warrior figure. If you have access to PoTC files, perhaps use the figurehead from "Corvette2". Or, if you download the update archive, you'll find in there "SP_Battleship4", a retexture and general improvement of AoP's battleship, including a similar warrior figurehead, but being intended for a larger ship, that version probably needs to be scaled down a bit to fit your frigate. Failing that, perhaps give Indefatigable her own shield colour scheme, different from that on Victory.

In any case, that's certainly a nice piece of work and I look forward to seeing it in PoTC!

Oh, thank you for the warm reception, and I am very glad you like her :)

It's Blender. Without rigging and cannons she takes around 60k triangles.

As to the figurehead, I see no problem adopting the warrior for the unique version, but in any case I wanted a version of the ship, that would represent the (almost) non-existing class of them, using the shield crest to indicate, whether it's a British, French, or other nation's ship, or so that two of them together would not look like complete clones, sporting the same non-generic figurehead :)

I do hope, though, somebody could help me with converting her to the game (after I get the textures on her), since I have really no idea about how to do that part.

My brother @TechnicJelle will approve! :onya

    Good thinking! :woot

If you add the figurehead in a separate GM file (usually "_deck.gm"), then it is easy to swap out the models with the TOOL without editing the main hull GM.

If you want to export her back to PotC though, she'll have to go through Maya 5 (see your PMs).
I think @Armada and @yo ho ho are the only people active on the forum at the moment who know how that works.

"deck.gm" usually includes a whole load of additional details - swivel guns, bell, etc. The "Battleship4" models also have "figurehead.gm" courtesy of @Jack Rackham. The main hull models are exactly the same, with a locator called "figurehead". In PoTC, each variant has its own folder of files. So each version of "Battleship4" has a different "figurehead.gm" model - the British one has a gryphon, the French one has a panther, and the Spanish one has the warrior. "Corvette1", "Corvette2" and "RN_Corvette" also have "figurehead.gm" models - in fact, the ones in the "Battleship4" variants are the same as the corvette variants, scaled up. (And re-arranged - among the corvettes, the French-looking one gets the gryphon and the British one gets the panther.)

Being more familiar with COAS, which has somewhat different file/folder system, I relied on availability of different texture sets only :) But I will keep this in mind.

In any way, it would be nice to see her sailing at some moment in the future.

If the shield is separate as a "figurehead.gm" then I could probably fit the different figureheads to the PoTC version.

Whyever not? :) The model will have to be disassembled after it's done - masts, cannons, hull, so there is no problem adding figurehead to that list.

CoAS and PotC aren't really substantially different.
It'll probably end up working fine in both games. :yes

Thank you for your kind offer :)
As soon as I finish painting her, I would need a guidance on how to adapt the ship into the game (I can test her on COAS/GOF that I have installed) - how to prepare and convert the model, get weapons and sails working.

    @Martes
We would be interested in licensing it for Tides of War and possibly other project in the pipeline. We would likely replace the rigging with our own and put our texture system in place, but the model looks like a good base for a ship we could use. PM me if you are interested.

@Martes, the ship looks great so far. I'm looking forward to seeing her with textures. :onya

The model could also be used in New Horizons Remastered, if you like.

No objections to that, obviously :)
I take it, you would want her textured and with rigging?

Yes, that would be great. You can use the same textures as the ones you intend to use for PotC/CoAS. The only things we add for NHR are normal maps and metallic/smoothness values.

    Attempt at texturing.
Never tried to do that before, so it won't be fast :)
But that's about the color scheme I thought for her.
And you get a look a the stern gallery.

Some more, and a coppered bottom :)
It's still very sketchy and nigh temporary, but I like how she looks anyway.

By the way, does anybody know where the sail models are located? Or are they generated by the engine?
