CTD moving between decks

I am using B14 + update, and am having CTD when I try to move onto the Ship Deck. This does not generate an error log, so I have decided to post here rather than in Bug tracking.

It occurs (so far) on the Lugger VML and I have a L3 character having done a bit of dungeon raiding around Oxbay. Have changed skin + acquired 2 officers.

When I press "Return" and choose Decks, the four symbols appear. I am able to successfully access individually Captain's Cabin, Crew's Quarters and Cargo Hold. Attemtping to access the Deck at this point generates the crash (cry of Sail ho! accompanies this). Also if I try to walk straight from Captain's Cabin to Deck or from Cargo Hold up the stairs to Deck, again a noise "Sail Ho!" is made before CTD. However, I am able to move freely and successfully between Crew's Quarters and Cargo Hold.

Interestingly I tried a new game and was able to move freely between all four decks - there was no noise of "Sail ho" when selecting the deck on this occasion.

I have downloaded the fix for the boarding dialogue/surrender issue.

This is not a massive problem and can be worked around by not accessing affected decks, but I thought I'd post to see if anybody has also experienced this or has a solution. Perhaps it is just a corrupt save since a new game seems to be OK?

Many thanks.

Did you start a new game with the latest modpack update? If not, you should. I recommend you continue with your new game that does work properly and keep an eye on whether the bug reappears or not. It could be because of an incompatible or corrupt savegame.

Yes I did - new game with latest update. I have had a chance to play around a bit more (several new games)and the crash only appears after a "Sail ho" screen has already appeared - either, in continuous sailing mode from island to island, or if I choose map mode to sail but then use the "sail to" option to sail into port. If a "Sail ho" screen has appeared then a CTD occurs every time when choosing "Ship Deck". If the "Sail ho" screen has not been experienced/avoided then everything seems to work fine?

Hope my obesrvations are helpful or are they unique to me?

Ah. That would explain a lot. Apparently the free walk on ship mod is not properly compatible with CCC's Direct Sail mod.

I'll try to find a way that disables Directsail when you return from below decks. Though it could take some time as I am still working on B13.

We aren't exactly planning on releasing Build 14 this week, so that should not be a problem whatsoever. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Pieter, I told you about this bug. Do you remember? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I fixed this bug already <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> By the way - you can find my files on FTP in my folder

Thanks for this - I have added this line and the crash that I originally reported does not now occur.

However, due to my lack of programming competence, it took me several attempts to put the line in a place where the fix would work. Either, POTC would not start up from desktop or the fix did not seem to work. For the benefit of others could you provide a bit more detail about exactly where this line should go?

Am looking foward to trying out the Direct Sail mode with the knowledge that I can have a break by just putting character out on the top deck!

is this the same bug that occurs when you are near to a fort and the game crashes when you get the sail ho screen?
