I don't know whether this was brought to attention before, or whether it is doable at all (probably not if sail away is hard coded).
It would be great if the 'sail away' order had a undermenu of 'N','NW','W','SW','S','SE','E' (just like load cannons command having undermenu of 'cannonballs','grapes','kniples','explosive shot')
This would prove very useful in 3 situation of sea combat;
1. Tactical positioning your ships on sea battle
Probably the most important reason for such a feature, having better control of the sea during battle and coordinating the formation of your fleet.
2. Fleeing 'away' from enemy in the direction where wind benefits. Not towards the enemy and against the wind. It is totally impossible to stop your ships from suiciding as it is now (especially for people like me who likes to have small fast ships in their fleet as companions)
3. Being able to flee near islands and reefs. Otherwise they turn their direction into the island and try to pierce through it hopelessly.
Hope this is doable, in terms of graphics for directions a capital letter with a nice font on a compass would be great.
Thanks !
