Can't Install Build 14 Alpha 9

I cannot get 'b14_alpha9.exe' to work correctly. I try to unzip the file into my Pirates directory, but I get told '\b14_alpha9.exe is not a supported archive'.

I have also tried unzipping from the Pirates directory, into other directories and with different programmes, but no luck either.

Any ideas?
 
It's a self-extracting EXE file; just double-clicking on it should work.

If it still doesn't work you will probably have to re-download the file. It happened to me as well but I had a feeling my download stopped prematurally and after I re-downloaded it, it worked!
 
Yeah I understand that it self extracts, but when I do double-click on it, that happens.

i'm having the same problem, so far i've redownloaded twice, and it's done this twice....i'm trying a third time, and hopefully it'll work then....and if not....can someone tell me how to at least get the black pearl from build 13?

If that doesn't work, post here and I may have another trick up my sleeve. ;)
 
yeah, it's still doing the same non supported archive thing, any help would be appreciated, as i'd really like to get back into this game =]

also, right now, i'm running build 13, and everything loads ok, it runs and all, but when i get into gameplay, all i get is a few console notes and a black screen, but the F1 and F2 menus load perfectly, any idea what i can do to fix that?
 
alright, so i installed the update, and so far, no difference, here are the log files

Your missing files are STOCK GAME FILES! :shock
You ARE installing onto the 2003 Akella PotC game, right???
 
yeah i think i know what i did now to get the black screen, i just realized this....

build 13 was installed in a potc folder, inside the original potc folder with the game itsself, so i deleted the game, but not the mod....i dunno why that didn't occur to me earlier....i'm installing again as i speak, so hopefully this fixes the black screen
 
Ah; you DO need to install the mod to the same folder as the original game. :yes
 
One thing worth doing is making a copy of your Build 13 installation once it works,
then installing the Build 14 Alpha on top of that.

If you intent to test each step of the installation process,
note that the game won't work anymore after installing Alpha 9,
but this is solved once you install Alpha 9.5. :yes
