Haven't seen that one in ages.

Please post ALL the .log files from your main game folder, just in case.
So that is compile.log, system.log and possibly error.log .

In what folder do you have the game installed?
Also, could you describe the steps you followed to install the mod?
I did everything wrong from the beginning, I uninstalled and re-installed everything, and so far works perfect. Sorry bother and for the inconvenience. I really love the game and I was desperate. Thanks for everything.

I recently tried playing POTC again with the 2 April 2016 install and it went as well as expected after I remembered which keys did what. Then played a beta 1 patch 5 install. The keyboard commands were different so that did not go well.

Then DLed this 4.1 WIP part 1 and part 2. Since I did not remember how to install it I thought it was just a matter of clicking on part 1 and directing it to the B1 P5 install. It turned out that was a .tar, so I clicked on the part 2 .exe. That looked familiar and it seemed to install ok as it says it is the 7 January 2017 version.

The first thing I noticed was that the merchant menu replaced the arrows with the words "buy/sell. Is this a feature or a bug?

The next thing was that I was NOT being sent to Pirate and English ports only. Good job! When I set out in me trusty Polacca all was well with the world.

Me being me I obsessed with it and played over 14 hours straight. It went well until the 12 hour mark or so when it started CTDing. Eventually I had to stop as they were coming every half hour or less apart. Maybe it's just a coincidence but that is when I started on some side quests.

Oh, when I got to Bonaire 2 of the women in front of the Governors mansion were cowering. Later one of them stood up and talked to me.

That was a difference between the US and EU version of the game; but the mod changed that to be the same for both.
That hasn't been touched though in many, many years so I'm surprised you have something different now. :shock

The next thing was that I was NOT being sent to Pirate and English ports only. Good job!
For the Cargo/Escort Quests, you mean?
Indeed I did some tweaking of the destination code to make it more random.
If I recall, that change was even triggered by your feedback a while back.
I'm glad that change worked then; Thanks for that! :cheers

It used to only send you to "safe ports", but now it cares much less about that.
The idea is that if a mission is too dangerous, you can always decline and wait for another opportunity.
Or take the risk and do it anyway! :cheeky

I found out why it was crashing. I broke rule number 1. After installing a new program ALWAYS do a system scan and defrag first thing, as it always installs in a fragged state and it all goes downhill from there. It is running fine now after a scan and defrag.

The thing is, the merchants were always sending me to dangerous ports and never sending me to safe ports before. Now they usually send me to a safe port.

That's curious; I don't remember that being on purpose.
Could be nation relations are different for you now.
Those do still affect the destinations.

Oh... And there was a bug before where the destination could be the departure port.
And if that happened, you would get a default pirate destination instead.
That did get fixed, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, apparently it works well now.
Always something to be glad about! :cheeky

One thing I have never understand is, if you become a pirate and every nation is against you, Why do we find pirates moored in the ports? This is frequently an issue in San Juan.

Not a new problem, it has been that way for ever. I am just curious.

There is code in place to specifically NOT have ships of hostile nations in port.
The sole general exceptions are Tortuga (because it is pretty much a pirate stronghold), and Jamaica/Port-au-Prince (only in Early Explorers/The Spanish Main).

San Juan is a separate case altogether, assuming that you are referring to the brig flying a big pirate flag in port.
That is specifically the ship belonging to Claire Larousse and should disappear if you play through her sidequest.

We were actually debating on whether we want to keep it as-is or not here:
Fix in Progress - [4.1] San Juan rowboat is a small ship flying a pirate flag | PiratesAhoy!
I don't remember ever getting any consensus and therefore nothing was changed.
You'd be very welcome to provide your suggestions there. :doff

I replaced the .exe with the one from the part 1 installer and still got the buy/sell icons in the merchant menu, so copied the .exe from the beta 4 install and it still has the buy/sell instead of the arrows. Oh well.

@Grey Roger: What icons do you have there?
I haven't had the chance to even start the game in months, so I can't remember.

Hi
@Peter Blood
I installed POTC NH yesterday.
After I have reinstalled it, is suddenly in the city down when I go to "go to", it does not show me the tavern anymore!

What is the reason? Can you help me?

Check your Options menu; you might be on Realistic Mode, which means you have to discover the Tavern before you can fast travel there.
If so, switch to Arcade and start a new game.

Alternatively, you may be playing a sidequest that temporarily disables fast travel.
Or you could be carrying opium.

Methinks it was a bad idea to install this WIP onto a beta 1 patch 5 install. It seems to actually run but over time it started crashing more and more, and the ships were very slow and sluggish for some reason. Plus it had the buy/sell instead of the arrows.

So last night I started over from a clean base and installed the 7 January 2017 update, and it is running good so far plus it has the arrows. I made it to level 19 with that install only because I wanted to finish the animist quest.

Did you do that with "Update Only" or with installing the full "Main Archive" as well?

Indeed a full clean install is definitely safer, though I would have expected a full install on an earlier modpack should work too.
So if it doesn't, that's a good thing to know! :onya

I installed everything. The update, main archive, and wide screen textures. So yes a clean install is best.

BTW, I almost starved me crew while dealing with a merchant. It sems the merchant deals take much longer now and use a lot of food. Is this a feature or a bug?

Thanks for the confirmation! :cheers

That is a very good question. I honestly don't know. Maybe @pedrwyth does?
