Build 13 Full: Loading Screens & Officers

v_Grimmelshausen

Landlubber
Having installed the Full version of Build 13, I noticed a sudden absence of any loading screens. Is that on purpose or is something wrong wih my installation?

And I´ve got a question regarding the recruitable officers, or more precisely their job title. Often it doesn´t seem to fit (a navigator with his strong points in repairs? And what is a "tough" supposed to be?). What went wrong there - assuming something <i>did</i> go wrong, that is.

Other than those really minor points, Build 13 is more than outstanding. A true showcase example of what dedicated modders, when given the possibility, can do with a game! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

[EDIT] It´s Build 13 <u>Final</u>[/EDIT]

v_Grimmelshausen, the missing loading screens is absolutely a problem that should not appear. You should by no means not be using Windows Vista? It has happened before, that Vista may mess up the installation of the game.

- You can always change the function of your officers, start a dialogue with those officers and look for the "About you.."-option.
- A tough is an officer who initially has high skill points in blades and guns and can follow you around on land for your protection.

No loading screens in Build 13 Full : I can confirm that one. I recently download it and notice that.

I guess the best thing to do is try Build 13 Final.

That is the latest B13 version with all updates.
Remember to so the runme.bat thing.

Also, remember to change MapSpeed to 1.0, to avoid many crashes on transitions to and from the sailing map screen.

Hehe, but he IS using Final..or maybe he edited this later, dont know:

Indeed, I´m running the Final version, and running the runme.bat didn´t report any errors, so that should have gone smoothly, as well.

And regarding the officers, I was trying to say that the job title they give when spoken to in a tavern doesn´t quite match what I´d expect from their skills. Shouldn´t be a lot of work to adjust, I just wanted to mention that there is something that migt need attention.

Yep, he did say Build 13 Full, and so did a simple virtual sailor.

Grimmelshausen, when this happens to others it usually gets fixed with a reinstall.
One thing though, with some language versions, sometimes th efiles get installed into the wrong folder.

As for the officers, I know that was discussed long ago and it may have already been fixed in Build 14.
Pieter should know.

Arg... got confused myself... Pieter Boelen doesn't always help though :

It's FINAL version as well.

Thank you for the hint, the files were indeed copied to the wrong loading screen folder. Moving them solved the problem.

If you have loading screen trouble, you could try installing Build 12.1 priot ro installing Build 13 Final. That might help.

As for the officers: Not sure about that. It seems to me like the whole officer system could do with some major improving, for which I have some good ideas. I just don't know how to manage that yet. It's not fixed yet in the Build 14 Alpha as far as I remember. However, you CAN change the role of the officers through their dialog; I think that might even be in Build 13 Final. In any case the name of their role doesn't actually have any influence on gameplay, which is a BAD thing as far as I'm concerned, but it does mean that this weirdness should have no impact on your game.
