Right after starting the game or only after talking to Mr. Gibbs in the tavern?
If the second, this file should fix it. If the first,
please enable error logging and post the contents of system.log and possible error.log.

We changed the name of some of the quests to be either unique or not simple
- Hornblower became "The Devil, the Dutchess and the Duke
- Legend of Jack Sparrow became "Hoist the Colours: Tales of Jack Sparrow"
So go to the new game screen and see if that is what your storyline says

Ok my next question... In your main Pirates of the Caribbean directory is the a file with the name engine.ini (it is a config file)

Is it just Jack Sparrow or are the other storylines stuffed as well
Now it sounds like it loads where as before it sounded like a black screen straight away...
IF it was after Mr. Gibbs talk in tavern then:
- Install up to Build Alpha 9.5 Patch 3
- Download and extract Cayman port fix (NO OTHER FIX REQUIRED)

i already install patch 3 and no, it is after loading the game.
The last problem you mention I have already explained to you on MSN:
Happens after opening the Options menu. Workaround: save before changing the options, then reload the save.

Just for clarity's sake, I ask again:
It's ONLY with the Jack Sparrow story, right?
You start a new game as Jack Sparrow and IMMEDIATELY run into a black screen; eg. you get to see NOTHING ingame?
There is NOTHING about "Can't load [something].gm" in system.log?

Are you sure you followed these installation instructions correctly?
That is ALL you need to do; no other patches and fixes needed. -
