High stakes gaslighting of arrogant actor to teach him a lesson.

Originally making Ten Commandments style movie with main character being the pharaoh.

He wants everything to be as real as possible, literally all the time to not "break his spell" of being immersed in the role.

Complains about every little anachronism; or when he can even SEE any of the movie/camera crew.

Even the director telling what needs doing makes him angry, because of course that reminds him it's only a role as well.

In other words, he takes his "I'm a God" role far too seriously to the point that he's impossible to work with.

Director and movie crew decide to suddenly force him into a similar role (but REALLY as real as possible this time) as Captain of a brigantine, with an incompetent crew. Now he's responsible for them all in the middle of a Napoleonic cat-and-mouse battle.

With the sudden pressure, he starts to realise him playing the role instead of actually being a competent Captain is the reason his crew is so incompetent and he starts to feel more and more overwhelmed with the responsibility, while trying to step up his game to actually learn being a good (or at least better) Captain; for the sake of his ship and crew.

Then he spots an anachronism that breaks the spell, but he had very nearly gotten to believe his role as Captain to be real. Now he starts doubting everything anyway and he goes to investigate.

It ends with a high speed historical car chase after the person he thinks responsible (the director?). The cops get involved too, but they're in on the joke as well, making our main character lose his mind even more and giving him an Ahab style hatred against this crazy person who's trying to make him crazy.

His Moby Dick now-enemy ends up on a ship and he vows to take whatever actions necessary to take him out. Even willing to sacrifice his ship as a fire ship by ramming into the enemy.

As the ship was only a movie prop, it sinks immediately. To illustrate the madness, a cow jumps out of the stern cabin and as the bow goes under, car headlights can be seen attached to the front of the ship.

Movie ends with a terrible 90s design website telling the crazy, crazy story.

"Setting sail" scene with people bungee jumping off the yardarms in the middle and the sails opening like 'wings' to the left and right of them.
