    Ok, I tried Swiftshader, but there's something decidedly strange about it. If I understood correctly, I was to copy the Swiftshader dll files into the game's dir. When I do so, the game crashes upon startup ("Egine has stopped working" error message). I deleted one of the dlls, namely d3d8.dll...

    That's what I thought initially. But then again, if I start a battle during daytime and it happens to drag on through the night, there are no problems of this sort... It's really weird.

    Not only have I not tried Swiftshader, I actually haven't a clue what that is, so I'll have to look it up and things and stuff. Many thanks for the suggestion. Maybe it's the smoke effects added in GoF - it's the only explanation I have. Bigger guns give off more smoke in the game, if I remember...
