    Well, it kinda depends on ammo as well. I bet you had grapeshots loaded. Try with chainshot or cannonballs, I'm pretty sure you'll have no problem with long range firing.

    About the smugglers, it's not the bug. If you tricked them too many times you will have to reconcile with them. Talk to the Diplomat to fix the "problem".
