Need Help One hit kill option?

TommyM

Sovereign of Death
Storm Modder
Hey guys,
I had some troubles with a certain quest which makes a spanish ship overpower and almost unbeatable.
Is there a possible way to change something in the files to make me one hit kill them?

Play at a lower difficulty. :) This game is intended to be hard, and the medium difficulty, Hard, is about equivalent to Impossible difficulty in a game from a big studio.

I may eventually look at reducing the size of the firing arc of the cannons. This won't let you one hit kill anyone, but will make it easier to stay out of his broadside arc. In PotC's New Horizons mod, I used to take on any ship with a schooner and win because I could avoid his broadsides. NH had somewhat smaller firing arcs.

One hit kill is happening at some occasion, if you boarding line ship with brig without killing its crew, if you have low skill in weapon and low endurance and much more,

Thank you for the tips!
I started recently the game in Begginer's mode and its waaaay more smooth then the other modes.
T be frank the game is fun but new horizon offers much more possiblities then this one.

I accidentally started a game in Beginner once and couldn't figure out why I was getting more experience than I should! :D I usually play on Normal.

New Horizons has had a LOT more people working on it and for a much longer time. The content is quite mature and very good. When modding is officially opened for TEHO I suspect a lot of NH content will be made available in TEHO.

I really like what the TEHO developers have done with the sandbox.

If you want to be able to play the quests The Caribbean In A Nutshell (which starts during the intro), The Final Lesson (6 quests all together which are starting from level 4 till 12), A Chief of Redskins (which starts at level 8) and False Trace (which starts at level 10) in a row, you should better play in Normal mode as it´s nearly impossible in Beginner mode because of too fast leveling.

Every long TEHO wish list has a laundry list of features that are already in New Horizons. There is already one mod for TEHO that replaces the starting town on Martinique. Any number of modders will want to increase the number of ships by 100, and where will they get them? Is it easier to write a new quest from scratch or adapt an existing one that's already been play tested? You can already get music and some other sound replacements.

I doubt the map will be changed. Someone will add new locations to existing islands. New Horizons is a good source of new locations.

Code changes aren't going to be much fun until TEHO is finalized. Every new version and update will require an update to the changed script files.

Why would anyone think NH content wouldn't be used in TEHO modding? The content is already made and it already works.

As for "who would do it?" there are plenty of modders playing TEHO who were never active here, even if no one from the PA modding community is interested in the project. There are enough good people who have already played through the entire game that someone will know what needs to be added and what doesn't, what will be useful and what won't.

And you think that NH content will fit easily into TEHO in terms of graphics and style, and will even look good afterwards?

There's a native village on Dominica in TEHO. Visit it. Look inside the buildings. There is at least one beach, I don't remember where, that's an obviously different style than the other beaches. There is at least one ship where the walk file is so bad they had to disable crew on deck for the entire game because of it.

I don't think we need to worry about anything not fitting. Besides, there is a lot of stuff that could be used that doesn't involve graphics of any kind.

Remember, this is a mod. It doesn't have to be perfect.

That was always our hope for AoP and CoAS as well.
Didn't exactly work out as we had hoped though.
TEHO started out as a subject of trolling for some reason as well, so I'd expect the same things to happen there again.
But with an actual good guy like yourself in charge, maybe you can actually turn the tide!
I'd certainly hope so. :woot

I can assure you we're VERY interested!
Not in doing it perhaps (primarily because of a lack of time), but certainly in the results if and when you can make it happen. :yes

I sincerely doubt graphics are the main concern here.
You most likely don't want the NH character models. And all worthwhile PotC locations are probably already in TEHO right now anyway.
But then there are the many mod-added ship models, which I sincerely doubt are of worse quality than those already in TEHO! :rofl

And 99% of the NH content isn't graphical at all; it's pure gameplay.
That's the stuff you REALLY want, because it truly makes a difference.

It was the gameplay changes that I was primarily talking about above. And they do make a difference.

There are plenty of good character models in NH that could be used in TEHO. There are probably a few character models in TEHO that might be good for NH, too. :) While I haven't seen the storyline specific locations, I'm sure there are plenty of locations in NH that aren't in TEHO and would go very well.

We still get the occasional troll in the TEHO forums, but they're easy to deal with.

In my opinion the ship models and characters are much more beautiful and detailed in TEHO than i ever saw them before in previous Sea Dog games. But others might have a different view of course.

And if we talk about gameplay, this should indeed be improved. :facepalm

All the NH locations are derivatives of stock game locations.
There are none that were truly made specifically for the mod.

Glad to hear it!
It does seem that the bizarre trolling related to that game has reduced substantially now that the game is available.
Definitely a good thing. :woot
