Seadogs to each his own : govenor find ships quests failing all the time

Beastie boy

Sailor Apprentice
Hi All,

I keep getting quests form the Governors to find and board or destroy ships. But I go trying to find them but they don't shoe up. so Latest one is a courier ship will be passing Havana in 21 days go board it and take the documents.

So I get to the Havana coast in the world map 10 days early!!! Sail around for a while. So the 21st day for me would be the 5th Nov. So No Spanish ships at all show up and at midnight on the 4th when it ticks over to the 5th the quest fails.

So what gives? anyone else having this problem. I've had this for the last 3 missions of this type either the boarding missions or the destroy missions.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Right now I'm about to go back to COAs IN FRUSTRATION.

This happened to me too I believe that you should wait at map and enter the sea just before midnight and you should see some message saying something like "strange sail on the horizon" or something like that and you need to sail around a island and try to find it,I'm not sure in this i haven't played it for quite some time,I hope that this will be helpful to you :D

I principly never play gvernor missions in CoAS or TEHO but out of my experience with mainquests i can tell you that for me it was always the best way to stay at sea near the city which is named for the arrival and start letting time pass about one week before directly there. You can easily spoil the quest by sailing around because the enemy ships with the pink sails normaly always spawn directly there and that can also be one or two days before the named date. It can also happen that you don´t see them spawning infront of the city. Instead it can also happen nearby or at the other side of an island and then you can only recognize that by opening your fast travel menu. Good luck!

You have to get to the location stated , for example as advised above that will be Havana then go to open sea as if you will port in the harbour , then sail around still in open sea mode using + to speed up time . Eventually a ship will appear on the horizon which will be the ship you're hunting , you can use the "sail to" option to locate the ship .
