Screenshots thread

That shouldn't be necessary. My point was that by scaling the emblem width down by 50%, it looks reasonable on both pennant sizes. Something to note for anyone else planning on creating custom pennants with more detail than a couple of coloured stripes. (I did something similar for earlier personal flags - have a look at "perflg6.tga" and "perpnt6.tga" and compare the emblems for Drake's, Milady's and Roxanne Lalliere's flags and pennants, for example.)

This is the stupidest guard in the history of guard stupidity. He has just tried to arrest me for being a pirate.

Where is the worst possible place to arrest someone for being a pirate? Yep, that's right - this is Tortuga tavern. xD

The chap in the left foreground with the red shirt and brown vest is a random pirate who will join in the fight on my side. The guy with the dark coat is one of my officers who is coughing because he can't believe what he has just heard. xD Also in the room but not in the picture is Mary Wood who, being a pirate, will also join in. Also not in the picture are two storyline quest officers who are the reason I'm in the tavern. One of them is immortal - he spends most of his time in the story in "LAi_ActorFollowEverywhere" mode and is not supposed to get into fights, so he's protected against being killed in a crossfire if I'm attacked by random bandits. He's going to be removed from the game as soon as I leave the tavern. So about the only time he is free to act independently is right now, just after he's been released from "LAi_ActorFollowEverywhere" mode so he doesn't try to follow me out of the tavern. And that's when Sergeant Stupid makes his move.

As you'd guess, the fight did not go well for the soldiers. :D

Maybe the guard dialog should include a check for the "fort relation to Pirates" function.
I don't think it currently does.

Thanks. I guess it is because people at another forum thought it was Naval Action or AC IV with lowered settings :p
I think that pretty much proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that those 2003 engine graphics of ours really are still not to shabby! :woot

Edit:
I just activated antialiasing and anisotropic filter (which I didn't even think about all these years) and man, what a difference!

Look at those ropes! Next screenshots will be way more beautiful :D

I took so many screenshots but I don't want to post 30 at the same time so I will just throw a couple out there :)

This are from a really stormy battle with 20+ Spanish and Portuguese ships. I couldn't see anything!

After the storm my crew was very happy, you can see it in their faces. :D

Today I stumbled upon something unique. You are able to climb the rigging of the Unité class frigate (RN_Surprise) to get into the mainmast. I have checked the entire ship and this is only possible at the port side of the mainmast. It's the only ship I found that has this and I dunno if it's intended by you guys or just a bug in the walkfiles, but I love it. Please, for god's sake never remove this. In fact, make it possible for all ships to have climeable rigging and the possibility to walk below deck!

That is definitely intentional; a rare feature on some ships' path meshes. :yes

Unfortunately, it would be too much work to implement this for all ships, let alone open up all the gundecks. For now, you can enjoy it on the few ships that offer it. ;)
(For the record, I can't remember which other models have this feature, but I'm pretty sure it's more than one.)

There is a detailed Dutch warship that has it too.
I think that is the only other one.

A shame it isn't on so much more ships, but I can understand the reasoning behind it.

Anyway, I have tried my hand at photo editing some of my screenshots. Nothing major, mostly colour corrections and that sorta stuff. Decided to put them in an Imgur album so you guys here can see em. Tell me what you think!

Link!

Looking good!
