Installing the Old PotC game disc on Windows 10

I'm not able to install from disc. Get the following message;

The app you're trying to use was blocked from opening because it might damage your PC or result in loss of data. This is because some apps that worked with a previous version of Windows might not work in the same way with Windows 10.

Any ideas?
 
Ill try with my discs.

Update: Installed and ran no worries , Did it on my Dell T3500 it just had the free upgrade to windows 10 this week.

Not sure what the issue might be , probably best to just put the error it is giving you into google and see if other people have had that problem with windows 10 in other programs .

Go into the disc, right-click the installer and select the Administrator option. Might work, might not. :shrug
 
Google has some stuff about this error but nothing so far as a fix. To be honest, not being able to play this game might be the least of the problems since people are having serious issues installing firewalls, anti-viruses and family protection suites due to whatever this error is. It could be a processor compatibility matter, seemingly nobody seems to know for sure.

Are you running 64-bit on an Intel processor?
 
Possibly it could be widows 10 "smart screen" I have that disabled on my machines. type Smart Screen into the search box and that should take you right to it so that you can check.

Edit : turned smart screen on and it still let me install it like normal so probably not it but still worth trying if nothing else works.

Its not WIndows Smart Screen, its Harmsway dumb filter. That's right its with great joy I bring you this sad news.

Yes, the old style jewel case that PoTC came in looks likes it holds one disc. But no, it has a hinge to get at the second disc on the flip side. Yep, was trying to install disc two.

Now that I have disc one. It installed. Thanks everyone for the help. The best I can do to return the favor is give you this chuckle.
 
As far as installing. Yes.

Now that its installed, including Build Mod 14, I can't get passed the New Game screen. It will start loading the new game for a few moments then crash. I tried everything in the FAQ part of the forum, ACT, Graphics 3D control panel and of course compatibility setting for XP. Running windows 10.

Why DirectX8? I thought the CD installed DX9.

Finally the Intel Fix did it. You would have thought I would have tried that already. Now if I could just get off the main deck. The CoAS habits/commands are just not working. So I'm off to read the instructions and tips.

Play through the Tutorial and follow Malcolm. You need [Space] to go to shore.
When going to sea, you can either use [Space] near the steering wheel/helm or you can use the [Enter] menu.
