That is on purpose. Just so they're not 'overpowered'. It gets better with luck.
 
Pieter won't like this but I never use them. Not because they break but because if the booby trapped chests don't kill me I get defense skill points from them, which comes in handy early in the game.

That's a fair point, actually. :shrug
 
I sacked Port Royal in my current Johan Elting game. I decided to not plunder the city, but to make it a city run by pirates. After that my relations with England went from minus 60 something up to zero. Looks like a bug to me. Or were they just glad that I didn't walk away with their cash?
 
Noticed (possibly) two more bugs.

1.) After I took some ships, I noticed that in a few instances the strength/health/whatever of the sails was shown as above 200 (like 333). Is that even possible? I always was under the impression that strength of sails is 200 max. So is this a bug?

2.) I am quite certain that this one is a bug: During on of my later boardings I noticed that the enemy soldiers were wielding other weapon skins, that had nothing to do with their actual weaponry. When I took their stuff, they still had their corsair's pride, as they should have. But in the hand of one for example the skin of an axe was shown. There were several instances, where the soldiers had no appropriate weapon skins showing. Even though their actual weaponry was correct.

I do not think that any nation is happy about pirates or even a whole pirate town. Money is there to play no role, probably a bug :shrug

Yeah, those sound like bugs.

One would think that if you take their town they would get mad.

1. I have sen that when capturing certain ships, like the ones guarding a treasure. Cursed ships do that also.

2. I have seen the soldiers using one weapon and having their standard weapon when you loot their corpses.

These should go into the bug tracker.
 
Are there any filters for the moored ships?
Like, there are pirate ships moored at an English port or a Dutch one and so on, also for the nations at war "like British and French" there are some frenchies docked at Port Royal.

There most definitely ARE filters in place. Only friendly and neutral ships should be generated in ports.
Only some towns are tolerant of pirates, so you might see those around. This goes for Tortuga mainly, but also Jamaica in the Early Explorers time period.
 
Is it possible now, to have several games/profiles going? I know that used to be a source for problems. But is it possible now with the latest improvements or is it still an issue?
 
:shrug No one has reported problems for a while. Either it is no longer a problem or no one is playing with many profiles. I only play one game at a time.
 
You can't play multiple games with the same profile name, but if you choose for different profile names each new game, then it'll work (if I'm correct, a screen should pop up asking if you want to overwrite the other profiles or something).
 
Despite my best efforts, the profile errors are still not completely fixed.
I do hope I have at least managed to decrease the chance of it happening. :facepalm
 
So what's the latest changes in 3.1 Beta ? Last I had tried 3.1 WiP. New sharks ? Lol. Allthough when I think we do not have a whale :ninja

just started a new game and ... well, some things are new to me.
One I found in the log ...
- Gameplay Updates:

But it also seems that all navigational abilities - like speed increase, maneuverability, storm helms man and such - are completely missing. Is this intentional? Perhaps related to iron man mode?

Arr ok, found out ... it's iron man mode.
