Spoiler Leaving CoAS by Sea...

Asquinol

Sailor Apprentice
OK, this is going to be a bit of a rant. I know that many other folks have written about this but I am feeling the need to vent and document my escape from the City of Abandoned Ships.

I love this game. It has given me many, many, hours of enjoyment. That said... WTF were the devs thinking when they did the hurricane part of leaving CoAS???

The decision to toss the player out into the sea, with absolutely no control over their movement is ridiculous and extremely stupid.

Currently, I am floating along trying to get to the exit point. I started this portion of the quest over an hour and a half ago, real time. I am not really any closer to getting out than when I first exited the Tartarus. I have swam up to and around the Gloria about 10 times so far. I have been pushed back all the way to the wall of ships about 5 times so far. Every time I make a teeeny little bit of headway towards the Diffindur... I end up going backwards at a rapid rate of speed. I have not sped time up. I have not tried to "fight it". I have read all the tips already.

I have 2 other NPC fellows in the water with me as well. We wave at eachother as we are tossed about, none of us can seem to make it anywhere near the Diffindur. Sure, they will get pushed away from me for awhile but we always seem to come back to a nice little group of the 3 of us somewhere. No matter how hard I try to get away from them.

This wouldn't be bad if I actually had at least a modicum of control over this. No matter what I try and do, I make no headway.

I started this post at 11:00 am my time, after I have been doing this for an hour and half. I will finally post it when I actually get out.

I have visited all of the sunken ships again. From the Tartarus, to the St. Augustine, Furie, St. Florentine and of course my girlfriend Gloria.

Man! This is just so AWESOME! I can't remember the last time I had this much fun in a game! (sarcasm).

Been in the water for well over 24 hours now. Pretty sure I should have drowned by now...

This is very, very, very frustrating.

This is not "Fun". This is an exercise in insanity.

I have seen posts from some folks that say it took them 20 minutes. One person even said 2 minutes. I am going on 1 hour and 45 minutes now.

I even have the locator on so I can see the nice big green bubble I am supposed ot be swimming towards.

Oh, sometimes I get closer... get a little excited.... then Wooooosh! I am taken halfway across the map by a series of swells.

Full on 2 hours now! Wooo Hooo! This is exactly how I want to spend my day off from work!
This is so F****** stupid.

At this point I am just pointing my dude at the big green bubble that is the mast of the diffindur and doing my "honey-do" list and checking on it every few minutes. I am closer now than I have ever been... and I am mostly AFK! FUN!

Ooops, spoke too soon. Hello Gloria, we meet again!

OOh look! It is my 2 friends again! "Hey guys... How ya doing?"
"What are we doing back out here by the Fury!?" one of them asks me as we get tossed about.
"Lookin fer some fresh water.." I say, "getting a bit thirsty. Maybe there is some in the chest that is on that mast we keep going by?" I ask.

No answer...

Oh,well, they got swept away somewhere. I am sure I will see them again in a little while.

2.5 hours into this now... just sayin.

Awesome! I just caught another swell that took me all the way to the western wall again! WHOOOO F-ing HOOO! I just love this feeling of having absolutely zero control over what is going on in a video game that I choose to play! This is brilliant!

3 hours.
3.5 hours.
3 hours 45 and I am finally out. I ended up speeding up time and that actually worked for me.

I will NEVER do that quest line again.

Sorry for the rant. I hope that this is actually as humorous as I wanted it to be.

LOL
I HAD the locator on! That darned green bubble was taunting me mercilessly!

I knew were to go, I just couldn't get there.

I managed to swim to the Diffindor without cheating . The trick is when a huge ass wave comes and you see it when it hits you swin diagonali towars its end . Of course it took me about half an hour to manage this but I did it :)_

at all that darkness how to u see the diffindor?

you can't "see" The diffindor its under water when you exit the tartus (or what ever it was called) you have turn right you will see too masts with lookouts at the top (where sailors climb to see in the distance) Thats the the Diffindor you have to battle the ocean to it and swim BETWEEN the two masts and you'll get the icon to leave (the icon press space or mouse click in the right corner) Again when you leave the Tartus turn right and you'll see the masts. Also if its night time you can always turn up gamma and brighnes to acquire "Night vision" abilities so to speak . Hope this helps u m8

Thar's why a lot of time ago I wrote a step by step walkthrough from the very beginning to the end. The only thing you need is BEFORE entering Tartarus to look at left and memorize the masts of the nearby ship. When you leave Tartarus you need to look for them and to swim toward them. Once you get there Diffindur masts are ahead and slightly in right (if I remember correctly).

I was so lucky that I managed to reach diffindur in about 2 minutes without cheats at all.
I turned the time speeder to +3, and while I didn't know where to go the exit icon appear!
