Announcing New Horizons Remastered - Bringing our best work to Unity

Sorry Hylie, I meant I can't see any indication in the demo of what version it is, which could be useful (unless I've missed it). Wasn't asking you in particular. :D

Announcing New Horizons Remastered - Bringing our best work to Unity

Could do with a notification of what version you're playing. Unless I've missed it?

Announcing New Horizons Remastered - Bringing our best work to Unity

Time compression worked fine for me on x64. Could speed it up or slow right down. I noticed it works for Nat walking around town as well. Could do with a notification of how fast or slow it's running. The new sinking mechanic looks good. I sank the ship twice, and it went down differently each...

Announcing New Horizons Remastered - Bringing our best work to Unity

Wow! This is the news we've been waiting for. I sailed right around the island. It took hours. I like realistic sailing, but time compression option would take some of the tedium out of it. The new music is great, but I missed all the familiar sfx from the Build mod - wind, crew chatter etc...

    Need Help POTC Map

..which is precisely the reason I haven't tried the Open Sea mod :grin

    Need Help POTC Map

Cheers mates. I've fixed those spelling errors -- well spotted Pieter! :keith I've only played Nathaniel so the names do relate to 1690. I sent him on a map-making expedition once he'd got a fast ship, chronometer and sextant, so some of the positions are checked against the ingame inventory...

    Need Help POTC Map

Ahoy mates, Here's my map of the Archipelago for anyone who's interested -- it will save ye from getting ripped off by greedy merchants at least. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28577526/potc-archipelago-map.png It's for New Horizons build 14, not the original PotC. Full size is 1500x900. Ports...

Cutty Sark restoration a disaster -- official.

@Buck This guy made a nice album taken just before the restoration and fire (they're not my pics) including some taken below deck. And the figurehead collection

Cutty Sark restoration a disaster -- official.

There was an argument at the time that the millions spent on turning Cutty Sark into a piece of prestige concept art would be better spent on getting her back to sea. Here's an article about it -- also a slightly mind boggling discussion about whether a preserved ship whose fabric is replaced...

Cutty Sark restoration a disaster -- official.

She's actually in dry dock in those pics, since about 1950 :p She's facing the River Thames, which is wide and tidal at that point, so didn't seem as landlocked as it looks. Apart from the Cutty Sark, Greenwich has the National Maritime Museum which has an amazing collection of ship models...

Cutty Sark restoration a disaster -- official.

Here's how she used to look. You could walk around the entire ship and go aboard through the entry port you can see on the right of the lower pic.

Cutty Sark restoration a disaster -- official.

So at least I'm not the only one who thinks that the restoration of the clipper Cutty Sark is a disaster. The project has been awarded the 2012 Carbuncle Cup for terrible design, by a pro architecture magazine. I grew up near Greenwich and saw Cutty Sark in dry dock many times. You could...

    Oxbay Canyon

Cheers Buck. I've got a little posse of two officers and a crewman, usually OK for barfights but we got slaughtered in the canyon! I'll try some missile weapons, I've only used cutlass and pistol so far. :pirate41: I got into replaying the Oxbay Canyon save a few times, in godmode and normal...

    Oxbay Canyon

Aye, the Canyon seems like a really cosy and welcoming place. One dozen you say? Seemed like at least 50 to me -- that's what I'm telling em back at the tavern anyway. :D
