Updated the first post!
Check the extra installation for a link to a zipfile containing all fixes and updates since august 24 2016. Download this zip and extract it to the potc folder to install the update.

- New Features:
  . You can now ask the smuggler for info about the patrols which is shown in the tradebook by Levis
- Code Updates:
  . Buildings don't go trough the post init process anymore to increase performance by Levis
  . Some loops in leveling are stopped when not needed anymore to increase performance by Levis
  . Tidied the code for showing the officer image in the character interface so its more flexible by Levis
  . Added trader officer type to the init because it was missing by Levis

  . Transfering to and from ships with no cannons now should produce same caliber by Levis
  . Player ship is displayed in fast travel if companions are presend by Levis
  . Fix for disappearing barmaid in Buccaners_camp tavern by Jack Rackham

So other than reinitializing, no saved game compatibility issues to watch out for, and we don't need to restart campaigns? Just making sure. :)

Yup, just install it and do F11 and everything should be fine. Could be if you are playing Ardent and/or Woodes Roger and you make it to the new part there is a problem but I believe everything should be initialized right. but @Grey Roger and @Jack Rackham could say that better.
For the other storylines there shouldn't be any problem.
 
I'm doing freeplay, and my wife hasn't had time to start her Ardent campaign yet because school is just starting the new semester, so we'd have no issues there then. :)

Great! Thanks for including a zip file of updates, so we can just cut and paste--it is nice to be able to avoid having to reinstall.
 
There should be no problem with WoodesRogers as the new parts not are included in the game yet, just prepared.
 
Jack Rackham, I'm really looking forward to trying WoodesRogers after my current freeplay campaign. It looks really interesting. :)
 
"Ardent" will certainly need a new game as some new characters and items are introduced for the alternative path to the "Convoy Strike" quest.

Please test install this zipfile. You can install it over the 24-8 update or a clean 4.1 installation.
 
Levis, mainly curious for my own knowledge of how things work, but which files/changes ended up breaking save game compatibility? Was it the new captain generation system?

Or was it a safeguard to prevent the random item glitch?

Both in theory shouldn't break it. But both could create nasty effects so to be safe I made sure we don't get bug reports due to these problems.
 
I cant make this ZIP installing in the right way. When I unzip it the result looks like: Udklip.PNG

You can probably take the PROGRAM and RESOURCE folders from that ZIP and put it over your main game folder instead.
Probably something @Levis needs to correct properly though.
