[REQ] GOF Common_Tavern.c problem

Darthtuvok

Powder Monkey
So since i didnt find the mod of GOF 1.2 i went into FTP searching for parts of it like the ship fix and the sails rigging fix by craiggo.
I overwrote the files over the GOF 1.1.2 folder if needed.
So far so good everything worked and the game started.
But the main problem when starting it was that as soon as I went to a selling NPC i had the problem of him telling me that the file Common_Tavern.c couldnt be loaded thus not letting me ineteract witht hem.
Any quick workaround would be nice cuz i want to play with the main features of the GOF 1.2 mod as long as its not here :p

Since you've put together different versions and files, there must be many mismatches, I can upload the file you need but I can't guarantee that it will fix your problem.

well i was just foolin around with the files in the hope to get something similar to the GOF 1.2 mod... unfortunately there is no download for GOF 1.2 but alot content from that version on the FTP server.

I now reinstalled the game and used the last issue you put for GOF 1.2 on the server but it just has a silly C++ crash and i dont have the skills on how to fix it [I`m working at hardware IT solutions and not the coders section in my company]... And although it was mentioned to be fixed already, you arent pushing the mod into the public :/

Why does it keep you so long?
/sarcasmon} Can we expect the mod to be published in December 2012? /sarcasmoff}

The reason its taken so long is that its only four (4) of us working on this mod. We all work on our own schedules to get things done, it takes longer to get things done this way but so far its worked more or less well for us.

The things you've found were probably internal builds that we've developed over the past few months to make sure all of us are working with the most up to date version of the mod. We plan to release GoF! x.x as a single download and not as a patch.

Wow only 4 people? Is this game so unpopular? Hmm i guess that explains your time shedule... well i just hope it won't take another half year ;)

I wouldn't call it unpopular or a lack of interest in the genre, but rather so few people that can see the potential in a seemingly unconventional game. I wouldn't even call it a niche genre either. I actually have no interest in Ships or Sea-faring in real life, yet i still find the ships in this game (particularly in GOF) a beautiful thing. The gravity of the role playing element in itself is more than enough to sway me.

Being that so many people are casual gamers, it doesn't come as a shock that COAS is largely detached from the mainstream communities. If anything COAS was a brilliant, if not over ambitious title that was sadly underdeveloped/under funded because of its nature and a game that will fight you every step of the way just to retain it's integrity.

I often think, what COAS would be like if Akella had the funding and resources of a big developer. One can only dream though. :)
