We have been making some quite amazing progress on our famous Build Mod and wanted to share what we have in the works with all you pirates out there!
One of the things we have in the works for Build 14 Beta 3 is to update the worldmap to be the the REAL Caribbean and no more fantasy archipelago. As such, we have now been able to include the coastline of Central America in the game and move all islands to more accurate positions.
As part of this, Cartagena will now be accessible from the beginning of the game and the model you see in 3D sailing mode is also the actual coastline of Colombia. And that fortress you can just about see on the hills here? That is the San Felipe fort that you will find in the REAL Cartagena too! A lot of care went into placing it as accurately as possible by comparing the model to Google Maps....
Yes, we skipped a number. And for good reason! For our Ten-Year Anniversary Release, special focus was placed on playability and we've met with quite some success there! But of course there IS new content too.
As such, Build 14 Beta 2.5 is now available as a Light version to be installed on top of the original Build 14 Beta 2.1 Full. It is easily the best and most playable version we have released for several years. Read on for an overview of the main new additions.
While Build 13 already contained much improved effects over the original game, it turns out it is possible to do it even better!
Happy New Year mates, and welcome to 2013! This year Pirates Ahoy! Marks it's 10 year anniversary! That's right, a full decade of modding and mayhem here at PA! A lot has changed around here since our humble beginnings, a lot of good people have come and gone, but I do believe that we are stronger as a community today than we have ever been. I keep hearing over and over that forums are dying, that they are an archaic and outdated form of communication. Social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook are taking over. Personally, I think that is a load of bull! Just take a look at how fast Facebook's stock plummeted after that initial IPO!
It hasn't been all smooth sailing for us either to be sure, our first year was quite ...eventful to say the least! Originally the forum was hosted on Keith's companies website (www.megastra.com/piratesahoy) using PHPnuke. Then as the site continued to grow, and PHP nuke was really just a toy CMS,...
Just when you thought the Age of Piracy was coming to an end, here comes another update for New Horizons. It contains plenty of booty to all those old salts in need of a good, healthy dose of swashbuckling!
While we at PiratesAhoy! have started to move ahead into the future with the development of our own, fully new game Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas, that does not mean that we forgot about the past. There is still a lot we can do with that good old Pirates of the Caribbean modpack of ours!
Pirates and Privateers, Swashbucklers and Scoundrels, it is that time again: Another "New Horizons" update is here! Read on for more details and... a bit of a little secret...
PiratesAhoy!'s quest to bring New Horizons to the original 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean game by Akella continues and as such, Build 14 Beta 2.2 is now available as a Light version to be installed on top of the original Build 14 Beta 2.1 Full. Included are the usual bugfixes, new ships and new features that are sure to make an excellent improvement to the game experience.
